I'll get one when Reactor is universal binary. That, and they spend the time to design a motherboard with firewire 800 on it, seems that the only reason it wasn't used on this first revision is because Intel has FW 400 built into the chip...... my guess is the next revision, whether that be new chips or a 17" macbook, has 800.

Personally I've always been a fan of the Centrino chips, thye make laptops as competitive with towers as desktop replacement notebooks. G5's are amazing chips for desktop systems, otherwise why would Microsoft be using them in the Xbox?

As it stands though, I wouldn't be able to use hardly any of my plug ins with a new macbook, and I went through that with Logic and the Intel switch. PSP, Camel Audio, Cycling 74, and NI are what's left, but that's a huge chunk....

who would have thought that afteer announcing a switch to intel, so many retarded PC users still try to defend their decision to stick with windows.

Who thought that this would turn into another mac vs. pc discussion
At this point, who will bother arguing? Live runs peachy on a intel mac with xp :D

I'll just be humble and wait till i get to gloat with a macbook pro merom........ running Leopard while pc users are still dreaming of vista....
I don't care if pc's still perform better after that.... it's all the power i need.
I mean... you can power a whole nuclear facility with one of those things

they'll wait for vista till the end of time lmao.

pc's will no longer be faster than macs, unless they are running AMD which will prob not dominate the speed war like they did last gen.

Hey AdamJay...

I just wanted to say...

I got my MBP this week! Oh yeah!

For those who miss firewire 800, I think there may be another option soon, in the form of eSATA ExpressCards. Get one of those and then grab the new quad-format drive: http://www.g-technology.com/Products/G-DRIVEQ.cfm

for everyone. Whether you like mac or pc. I think the new AMDs will be very exciting, they are about 8 months ahead of intel from what I have read (and you know it MUST be true if its on the net)
I WANT A MAC, I WANT A PC,

the mac mini might be mine after LIVE 6!!!! Lets see what 6 brings forth...

why do mac people think pc users are always hungry for upgrades bla bla?

we use our computers and get the job done and if there's a decent upgrade then we get it, if not we wait till we buy our next pc because it comes with it anyway and we use it... no big deal .. nothing to gloat about...

macs and pc's will now be pretty much the same speed.. unless the OS makes a difference..

there's no difference between the two platforms now.. nothing .. just aesthetic stuff...

soo... the computing world will continue to use the operating system that most of their application needs are met under and we dont jump up and down about it and we dont moan about it either...

Yeah...
The point i was making though... We're about a few months away from having all the power we'll need for a long time. Sure you can get the job done with a 800mhz computer or less.
But the power we're finally seeing for both mac and pc user is something that should hold us over for a long while. We'll get double power thanks to live 6....
It's more then enough for what i'm doing. I sure there will still be some people who complain that live crackles after they added their 40th reverb on each instance of every single NI vsti....

I'm looking forward to some new kind of argument (remember the python sketch?)
Live's instruments and effects Vs. the other stuff out there....
We'll need more instruments and effects for that though.
And more midi plugins. Like a scaled midi delay

...So we know the track count is a "bit" :D better.

How about plug ins, instruments and processing power? Is the intelappy stronger than a dual G-5?

:?:

For the longest time PC users online have trashed on mac users using the basic PC's easy hardware upgrades as a prime reason macs suck etc....

we use our computers and get the job done and if there's a decent upgrade then we get it, if not we wait till we buy our next pc because it comes with it anyway and we use it... no big deal .. nothing to gloat about...

OK that's all good, but I honestly don't write diatribes about mac VS PC in PC specific threads, why do some PC users write PC diatribes in mac specific threads? Riddle me that?
KVR has plenty of PC specific threads for example, and I simply don't see as many mac users butting in and making accusations of moaning etc.
I agree with what you're saying, just stating the obvious I guess?
Anyway, I'm getting a PC soon, so I guess that'll make me a whore to both sides eh?

KVR is full of really noobish pc users.

And i'm not saying they are noobish because they run windows but because they just are.

pc users in here are a lot more intelligent than over there.

they all seem to be running pc and fruity loops

go figure.
