Improved Sound Quality

Post by Graysun » Thu Jul 06, 2006 2:38 am

The sound quality in Live 5.2+ is good. However, i did an experiment recording an acoustic guitar into Tracktion and into Live, with the same mic/pre/a-d converter/mic-placement.

After listening to both takes in Live and Tracktion, i have to say i greatly prefer the sound quality of the Tracktion take. Not sure why this would be... any ideas?

Ditto on this, which is why group render is requ so you can mix in another DAW, unless the audio engine is overhauled in Live6.

A day without House Music isn't the end of the world but is so damn close.

Yeh, no mention of this in the announcement, any alpha testers or Abletons themselves shed any light on what sort of changes (if any) we can expect?

The point is to find the right warping mode for the right sound.
No warping = no artifacts
Warping = trial and error
It all really depends on how you work with the sounds you have.

It's possible in Live for all I know.
If you don't want warping. You can loop in repitch mode.
If you don't want it repitched and not warped, then use follow actions.

Where's the workaround in this or what are you missing in Live?

ok warp still has to be on in re-pitch mode for it to loop.

Do follow on actions use cpu?

i dont want to have to use follow on actions to loop without the warp on

ahh ok i did not know that in re-pitch mode the warp doesnt affect the sound, but it seems strange that if the warp is not doing anything why it needs to be on i dont like seeing lines on my audio for no reason.
