It happens, believe me. Smile When I first moved here, it was like a techno all-you-can-eat buffet. Literally, every night of the week, there is something going on somewhere... and every hour of every weekend, too.
However, there comes a point where you really get "clubbed out". I have passed up seeing DJ's that I would have driven 3+ hours to go hear, because I know I'll be able to see them again in another month or two if I feel like. Plus, it also gets a bit tiring dealing with the "living dead" (aka, clubbers after 24 straight hours of partying), smokey dark rooms, crowds, drink prices, etc.
Don't get me wrong; I love the scene here, and I still go out once in awhile if I'm in the mood. The beach clubs here are awesome, and I would have to say that I prefer going to them much more than the "traditional" club-type venues because of the atmosphere.
The bottom line is, there's much more to enjoy in berlin than just techno. Smile
excactly, i am from berlin and moved away in 98, because the "scene" was more then just dead, dead boring! however it changed to the better over the last few years, i started to enjoy visiting it again, because of it's club culture.
also berlin has much more to offer than that. at least in nowadays. it started to be more cosmopolitan and the damn germans seemed to have woken up from their sleep.
now i can even consider moving back home, but it was for a long time rather awfull.
barcelona is agreat place and has a strong very diverse electronic scene, and spanish people have at least fire in their blood and soul in their hearts opposed to the average german, berlin being ok-ish, but the rest of the countrys people. few!?!?! viva la fiesta!! but maybee i have lived for to long away in different countries, so that only my german passport is left in me?
if you have a choice and speak spanish, i'd say barcelona.
and if you are originally from a "western" country don't move east, it will do earlier or later your head in, believe me! at least i am there after the first excitement and 3 years being here.
