It never use to take any real time to start up before. It seems to have got slower as i loaded up my vst plugins and instruments in Libary/audio/vstplugins. Mmmmmm

~This is happening when i open a blank song witn no loaded audio or fx.

No big problem but time wasting in certain situations

Hi jamief,

do you have this long startup time with every Live 3 version or just since Live 3.0.1/3.0.2?
Could you send me the log file of Live ("../Preferences/Ableton/Live 3.0.2/Log.txt")?
Each line has a time stamp in ms since startup so mabye we can see which part needs this much time.

regards,
Alex

My machine, a 867 Powerbook with 768 RAM and OS X.3.2 also takes very very long. Don't know if this is a helpful piece of information, but it all goes very fast in OS 9. (couple of seconds)

Cheers,
Roland

Hi Alex,

Alex my log file is 6.5mb so i cannot send it all to you ( my limit is 2mb).
Instead i have posted varuious excerpts for you.I think its possible to determine the slow coaches from this info. I also sent you mail with screen grabs of my Vst plugins folders

Hi folks,

Probably it's a problem with the Live's preferences file. So all of you having these long startup problem in Live 3.0.1/3.0.2, please do the following:

1) Rename the Live preferences file (".../Preferences/Ableton/Live 3.0.2/Live.cfg") into something like "Live_old.cfg".

2) start Live

3) If Live will start at "normal" speed this time, you have to make your desired preferences settings in Live again and can delete "Live_old.cfg"

regards,
Alex

No big difference - if any after trying that Alex. Thanks though.
Seems live is scanning the dat. files of trilogy Atmosphere, stylus and my 2 virtual guitarist plugins before deceiding to move on and load up.

Hi All...first post Live user for a few months.

On my G5 dual 2g with 2g of RAM Live can take up to 2-3 minutes to start up. I assumed it was in relation to the amount of audio files in my library. I wonder if those with large volumes of files....over 20G...have longer startups??

i used to have this problem with v2 and it was easily fixed by trashing the live .plist file. don't know if this works for newer versions, but hope it helps...

Live 3.01 takes 35 seconds to start on my dual 500Mhz G4 running OS 10.3.2, 1 gig of RAM. This is about twice as long as version 2 took.

It seems to have something to do with scanning the vst plugins. Instruments like Virtual guitarist and Spectrasonics Stylus have a 1-3 gig dat file and live seems to be scanning all of these files before deceiding to continue. thats wherer i think the extra time is being consumed.
