If it ain't worth freezing it ain't worth avvin!

Well I'm talking out of my arse now

but freeze is good, comitting to sounds is good.

I must say, I had no need using freeze with Live 5 with my G4 Ibook. Now with the racks and stuff, I kinda need it alot and it is definitely a benefit to have until I get some more ram or a new machine.

Something else to consider is that if you want to freeze a track that has some monster VSTi on it, you can still apply external effects on that frozen track by routing that audio to a separate track with VST's for your effects. Can be the best of both worlds in the right situations.

Anybody already tried copying a frozen MIDI clip in the session view to an audio track? Very cool feature, saves me lots of mixdown/render time

I've got a 1.5ghz IBM_T40 laptop.
I was going to upgrade for LIVE_6...

Dual_Core = who needs that much more CPU now ?

I will wait untill Duo_2_Core is standard,
or buy some more VST's... maybe Operator and Sampler

This makes the MPC1000 + LIVE_6

PURE MAGIC !

What happens when you "unfreeze" that midi clip in an audio track?

I was really used to resampling my tracks to save CPU use. How do you compare working one way or the other? (resampling vs freezing).

i've found that commiting to a sound by resampling forces me to think twice, and to really get the sound I'm after before recording it, which makes me focus more, and avoid letting things for "afterwards".

What can you say in that respect?

yeah resampling is good in that you are participating and doing it in real time, but freeze is dead easy, you just right click>freeze then drag the frozen clip to a new audio track then unfreeze the track and you have the best of both worlds
