I've looked at it. But since i'm on mac, thats about all i can do.pulsoc wrote:Have you looked at energyXT?hoffman2k wrote:Would anybody care to mention what these arps can that Live's cant?
Just wondering, because i can make live do pretty much anything i want when it comes to arped sequences.
I don't want to be missing out on new tricks though. I collect them
Can anyone suggest a good Arpeggiator please
Re: Live's arpeggiator seems ok
Dunno, no user defined repeat points without restarting the sequecne, FL piano roll has arp functions like adding a stuttered user-defined length note preceeding every user-defined length period - yah, you could hand program stuff like that. But then again, you could argue that Live's Arp is redundant since you could hand program THAT.Hyperion wrote:I did not yet spent time with it (Live's arpeggiator), but when I read the workings of it, it struck me that at the surface it may look like having very basic patterning, but with the extra controls you could be making every thinkable arpeggio with it. So no need for another one, just putting some work in it.

I'm at work so can't test it - do these work in Live? I didn't think midi vsts worked in Live.Rosko wrote:Have you considerd 3rd party midi plugins?
Im not sure how they compare as i dont use arps but most of these plugs are free or at least cheep so maybe worth a try.
here is one example of many http://www.xoxos.net/midi.html
I'll try to post a little article about Live's arp next week on the CovOps site.zazamoth wrote:hoffman2k well it could just be me.. as i said i have only just started doing the whole "arp" thing and while i have managed to get live to do some cool stuff i have not managed to get it to sound quite as cool as some of the stuff in Albino3..seems to be stupidly easy to do stuff that sounds complex in albino3....but any pointers would be good hoffman2k![]()

With Live 6, the trick box will never run empty

I don't like Live's arp very much.
First, a good/flexible arp should be polyphonic. Second, it should be able to program patterns. The Live arp cannot do either of these.
The arp in my Korg Z1 is excellent. Zebra2 synth has a fine arp, but of course it can only be used with Zebra2. Same with some other synths.
There is no good vst arp on the mac. Wish there was.

Found something quite cool
If any of you have Intakt.. map the sample..and slice it through Live's Arp..i am getting some really funky results

Yes, this is true of all of Ableton Live.Hyperion wrote:I did not yet spent time with it (Live's arpeggiator), but when I read the workings of it, it struck me that at the surface it may look like having very basic patterning, but with the extra controls you could be making every thinkable arpeggio with it. I guess this may be why many people poke fun at Live for being a 'toy'. They obviously haven't sat down and spent any real amount of time with it. It's a lot more complex than people first think.
Just incase anyone is intrested ..turnkey is selling the Z3TA+ for £49.00..i am giving it some thought
