That's kind of an ignorant statement to make since you don't now how many people have been suffering from similar crashes and have simply decided not to post their experiences on this forum. Maybe Ableton should've beta tested this software longer or done it internally, I honestly don't know, but I can tell you that I've never, ever had any software crash this computer the way that 6.01 has been doing on a regular basis. Its back to Ableton 5 until this gets cleared up.tylenol wrote: For what its worth, I'm afraid those of you with lots of crashes are probably in the minority -- it has been utterly stable for me since release, and judging from posts in the beta forum, even people who experienced crashes haven't experienced anything like whats reported in this thread. So it seems likely that there is something particularly unusual either about your setups or about what you're doing, that it didn't come up during the beta period.
! ! ! ! LIVE 6 CRASH EVERYTIMES ! ! ! ! ! ! ! !

It is definitely not ignorant, as I was involved in the beta test from b.19 on, read crash reports posted on the beta forum, and posted some of them myself. To the best of my knowledge, absolutely no one had this kind of experience during the beta period (which was long, and by the end, involved many people), and crashes that did happen were fixed. I do not say this to claim that your experience are not real, legitimate, or that they do not deserve a response from ableton's support team. They do deserve a response. I say this because I know (having been a programmer at one point) that it is nearly impossible to fix a bug without being able to reproduce it, and it seems that some people are posting here rather than reporting crashes to ableton directly. If live is crashing constantly for you, it is because there is a bug that the developers do not know about/have not been able to reliably reproduce.LiLStressor wrote:That's kind of an ignorant statement to make since you don't now how many people have been suffering from similar crashes and have simply decided not to post their experiences on this forum. I posted what I did because I don't think posting (semi-hysterical) complaints here is going to make any real difference in getting anything fixed, but I know that reporting them to ableton and helping them reproduce the problem will make a difference eventually.

I respect your opinion, but I think this is another example of a software developer rushing a new version of their program out the door before it has been properly tested in order meet market expectations and deadlines. Par for the coarse. I'm glad I didn't pay for the upgrade as I just recently jumped on the Ableton bandwagon. Version 5 is still an amazing canvas to paint on and I'm hopeful the next update to 6 will bring it closer to its stability.

I've been happy using Live since version 2, with very little experience of bugs, even when everyone was screaming about Live 5. But Thus far I've found Live 6 to be utterly useless- everything I try to do, whether on my G5 iMac or my Macbook, causes Live to crash. I literally can't do anything. I'm glad some of you have had no problems, and I'd love to know your secret; these new features seem great and I'd love to try them out some day. As it stands, Live 6 is crap for me at this point.

Damn. You guys got more problems then I do...
And I only reboot my mac once a week or so...
The mac version is reasonably solid. Though i'm waiting for 6.02...
I noticed in the beta forum from Ableton's replies, that the next bugfix update will be pretty significant.
Hang in there.
I get crashes too, but they are no mystery...
Just keep sending crashlogs to Ableton with a small but detailed description of what you did before the crash...
And if you find any threads that might be relevant to your crash, then include a link of those threads in your bugreport.

I've just get two crashes in 30 minutes. No vst/vsti plugins, only ableton modules, and a clean OS X 10.4.8 install.
That's sad, because I reorganized my set using the 6.0.1 project format and I have a gig next week. This means a lot of time wasted going back to the old 5.2.2 version cause I can't take the chance to have a crash in the middle of the night.
I work for a software company (one of majors) and I know for sure that is impossible to release a product without bugs.... Nevertheless, a crash like that, without recovery, on a pretty standard set up like i'm using, only leads me to think in two possibilities (maybe both at the same time):
1. You are not doing enough testing & QA
2. You don't have a good exception catching mechanism
I hope you *ableton programmers and product managers* start to think in making some investments in intensive testing before releasing a new piece of code, cause I love your product and I really would like to still using it and paying for new cool features.
Regards.
A disappointed customer.
PS. I'll send the crash reports to tech support, of course.

Yep, experiencing sudden shutdowns of Live 6 with no warning. Like someone has stated previous, I also get the strange noises if a track was playing. Its like a very small loop of audio playing a continuous noise and my computer locks up. Had Live 6 since release and its now crashed about 7 times in total. Has anyone reported this to support??? I'm using it on Sony Vaio VGN TX27GP with Presonus Firebox. Building a new Shuttle at weekend with AMD 64b AM2 4600 duo core and 4gb ram, so i'll see if it does it then...
