you have got to be joking. Ableton needs to spend their time developing software, no policing posts and researching wether or not companies are legit. Do your own research, don't ask ableton to do it for you. These weren't really "advertised" by the company that I know of on these forums, just eager users that found what looked to be a cool controller.dj zed wrote:I think this is part fault of ableton .....I dont think its is correct that companyes with questionable reputation put something in this forum for sale . it wouldnt happen if ableton had some kind of control where only people post non comercial messages .

Thanks. I also heard the story about RTAS and Absynth and I am having problems with the new autosave function (you need to copy the ens-file for autosave, very redundant when you are using large ensembles). I have contacted them about Kompakt and no response.dirtystudios wrote:i'm sorta kidding, but i'm kidding on the square. they have a history of releasing horribly buggy products (reaktor on mac is a bad as it gets), making claims that just aren't true (the absynth rtas situation), making horrible descisions (banning drum machines and synths from the reaktor user library) and their tech support is a joke. go peruse the ni forums. the difference between those forums and these are incredible. the ni forums are full of people just mad as hell at ni. there are some authorization stories that would would blow you away. my experiences with absynth have been almost comical. it hasn't worked on my last two computers, and i've been hounding tech support only to get a half-assed response every couple of weeks. i know there are some people out there who have had a lovely experience with ni, but there are more than enough horror stories and customer complaints for a caveat emptor, especially for the mac user.raapie wrote:why? please tell me the story... or at least true a private messagedirtystudios wrote:well, it's still better than native instruments.

But I love the sound of their synths and the stability on XP is great at the moment. But I understand your problems. For stability I always go back to Reason and combined with Live this is a very cool combination

word. i just wish reason sounded better, and had the ability to sequence external midi devices.raapie wrote:For stability I always go back to Reason and combined with Live this is a very cool combination

Reason is a closed device indeed, so no midi out. I must say I really dig the Subtractor and Malstrom as synths. I have programmed the Sub such a lot, I know it better than my old DX100. Feeding the NNXT with some cool sample-patches helps too

Thanks 4 the headz up, it's business practices like this that give buying from the web a bad name and make it hard for businesses doing it the right way to gain customer confidence.
I know that the MXF8 actually exists as a former colleague had one in his hands so that a magazine preview could be compiled, he thinks it's a wonderful controller. Whatever is going wrong is being handled extremely badly by Grex, the beauty of the net is that you get to find out about it pretty darn quick.

Yikes...
While I won't be the first to say I've loved everything that Native Instruments has done I have been a reasonably happy customer. I do agree though, there are *lots* of angry users in the forums... I've made a few peeved posts myself.
The sad thing is, it seems that they could do something about it, but choose not to. They've got a kind of cult following/reputation that, while deserved, is eroding. The last product I purchased from them shouldn't have passed quality tests, and the specs they give on release tend to be a little bit out there lately. As has been said, they'll promise things on release and then add them over time as patches. Even microsoft knows better than this (most of the time).
Of course it all depends on what types of issues get you peeved. If cool products get you going and you don't care about customer support too much... or happen to luck out you're good.
Otherwise, there are *way* too many other companies coming about lately that are more than happy to be quick, speedy and servicable. Who are willing to be courteous and help their customers. It is kind of sad when you have an issue and the best response you get is 'wait for the patch'... if any.

Yes, that's the downside of software in my opinion. When you buy something you don't know if it will work and you don't have any garantee you can get your money back in case the software isn't working like it should. Sometimes I feel software has no future since in the the end we will be waiting on bug fixes all the time for most software...gaspode wrote:The sad thing is, it seems that they could do something about it, but choose not to. The same could be true of hardware in this area as it is still essensially diven by software. The difference seems to be that the hardware guys generally go the extra mile and not spend time fixing what should have been working in the first place. They don't have the "it must be your machine" argument to fall back on.Sometimes I feel software has no future since in the the end we will be waiting on bug fixes all the time for most software...

yes, in hardware the same thing is happening indeed. things are released to quickly and bugs are solved later or never...

Ya wanna see a messed up situation, take a look at Final Scratch.raapie wrote:yes, in hardware the same thing is happening indeed. things are released to quickly and bugs are solved later or never...
Hardware produced by Stanton
Software produced by NI
Stanton: "you should contact NI with your issue, it's their fault".
NI: "you should contact Stanton with your issue, it's their fault".
Repeat ad infinitum...
***IF*** the cycle of buck passing is broken, then they turn to your OS, PC or Mac, turntable cartridges or anything else to blame. This is all assuming that anybody answers your email at all.
This all wouldn't be a big deal if the hardware wasn't so cheaply produced and the software wasn't so buggy.
I don't think that you can find a worse combination out there.
By the way, for any Live users thinking of Final Scratch, don't. It's a waste. I only use it for turntablism, not playing tracks, and it doesn't REALLY cut the mustard performance wise, let alone stability.
I am looking into Serato Scratch as an alternative. Software by Serato, (I am not really familiar with them), and hardware by Rane. For those not 'in the know', Rane makes probably the best quality mixers, crossovers and EQs on the planet. Their production quality is TOP NOTCH, but ya pay for it.

This is the original poster here, I emailed them about 50 emails this week, they actually replied to one, they said that they would ship it the next day and give me a tracking number. That was 3 days ago, no tracking number, no replies since. They say that they are having problems, I guess when a company does not address their problems they get to where Grex is. It really looks like it would be a perfect companion for live. Its too bad that the company is totally incompetent, and has no respect for their customers. What are they going to change their name to next? I guess they're too coked up to care perhaps? Its the absolute worst company that I have ever done business with.
