Automaticalyy advance to next scene

Post by 0verfl0w » Tue Nov 28, 2006 3:57 am

Hi!

I use Live with my band for backing tracks.

Every scene is a new song and we just start every scene manually with ENTER.

But there is one moment, when we are off-stage and we would like the next scene to start automatically.

Is there a way to do this?

thx in advance

I'm not in front of my Live setup right now but I think you need to look into "follow actions". Look at these in your master track. Select master in session view and down in the bottom left theres an area to define what happens when the scene is done.

Hope that helps!

You could creatE a midi track and have a note assigned to fire off the next scene once it hits it.
3ghz Pentium 4 (Prescott), XP Sp2, 1gig Ram, Dual Monitor with Matrox Millenium, MOTU Traveler, Event EZ8 Adat card. Also IBM THinkpad t40 1.6 1 gig ram

ok thats a nice start - follow actions aren't bad, but I can only assign them to single clips in the track - I Can't assign follow actions for the whole master track (or did I miss something).

And about the midi solution: How the hell can I assign a midi note to the master track?

And while I am at it - here is another stupid question:

I have activated the option to automatically select the next scene when starting a scene - this way the drumer only has to hit ENTER - SPACE - ENTER - SPACE

In Live 5 the yellow selection marker jumped down - but in Live 6 the yellow bar stays. In a live situation this might be a bit confusing.

Thx in advance,
Yours Flo

"Dummy clips" is what you should search the forum for, regarding the MIDI suggestion above.

The basic idea is to have a MIDI clip with the note info, and a loopback system (IAC on mac, MidiYoke on PC) -- the midi then can be mapped to a control in live, namely the appropriate scene launch button.

If you know exactly how long the loop should be in beats/measures, why not just unlink the envelope, type in the required length, and then trigger it once?

Great tip! Thanks for sharing 8)

I have been thinking about how to do this, and this works like a charm.

Finally I can make my Ableton Live do what good old Notator could
