doesnt yours?
staying on would be nice though...
Yes the pads briefly blink when they receive a note. I've gotten the workaround that was posted here working so that the corresponding pad blinks continuously as a clip is playing, but this is less than ideal.

Nope. I assumed it would, as did many others.

I've sent an email to Korg with a link to this forum. Those lights have so much potential, if we could only program them a bit...

Imagine: Light on for a playing clip (if the pad is mapped to a specific cell in the session view)

Light on / off for mute / unmute

Light blinking for record armed in any particular channel

I mean, there's a lot of possibilities beyond pretty patterns when you ignore the machine.

There's a lot of discussion on this forum about the different pad controllers; Trigger finger, Akai MPD 16, MPD 24, and the Pad Kontrol... With functional (and programmable) lights, the Korg Pad Kontrol would dominate hands down.

As it is, Korg's market share is being dilluted by other competitors (M-Audio and Akai). Korg could sew up the Ableton market niche (and possibly other performance oriented software) easily with a single OS update.

Ableton should also fix one thing:

MIDI FEEDBACK FOR CLIPS BEING TURNED ON AND OFF

I don't think this is possible yet, which is problematic for midi controller manufacturers (Faderfox or Korg PadKontrol for Example).
Indeed, it's all good if Ableton sends a midi note off message when you click on a clip to stop it, but if it doesn't, the light on your midi controller stays on (whereas it should be off)

Do you know what I mean to say to you? :?

...got it. Though with either mackiecontrol or the Remote Automap, there's bidirectional info exchange between the software and the controller, so it should be possible...

Oh I sure hope somebody devises a ligth hack, or that Korg picks up the slack!

I really like my pad Kontrol, but with programmable lights, it would enter a new realm of usefulness. I'd probably try performing with my laptop offstage, or at least hidden, with just the pad Kontrol as my interface, as it would add a new realm of instrumental conciousness.

Please Korg....

M. Breqs is right. I've got this working. Set up your padK for MC emulation, and when you use the pads that are used as the 4 directional/arrow keys for navigation, the Trigger Clip pad blinks when you scroll through a slot that contains a clip.

This method WORKS.. however its still a workaround hack and I find the blinking annoying:

I'm also not comfortable with the flood of MIDI data it creates, but it does illustrate the two-way communication that is possible between the pK and Live.

Check the video here for a demonstration of what happens when the pK receives a MIDI note on:
