Yeah it definitely has artifacts on macintel. You can tell it isn't supposed to because it typically doesn't do it for a while after putting the plugin in a track, and then it starts.

Robotronic is very cool!! Use the built in mic and keyboard keys , load up a soopa phat pad with tons of harmonics, and you can vocode on the run!!!

it's not free though... maybe someone should compile a list of freeware Universal Binary plugins on this forum. I remember the MDA Vocoder being good, but they don't seem to have made this UB yet...

yeah, the lack of UBs of the mda stuff is killing me...can't somebody with max/msp just export a vocoder patch for us to use...

it would seem to be an Intel problem... this is maybe why you had no click.

Somebody post when they find a fix for that distortion problem. I twiddled with some settings but no luck. Frustrating, I was looking for this very thing.

NI Vokator is suppose to go Intel this month - in the US it is $199 online, 199 Euro as well, I don't get their math.

I'll concur w/ the clicks on Intel. Yes, you can get it to go away if you delete it and add the thing again, but it comes back as soon as you do just about anything else. Bummer, too, b/c I really like the thing otherwise...

I have this same issue with my Powerbook, so it's not a MacIntel-thing.

Any ideas what could cause it?

It works well. Then I record something and undo the recording and tadaa - it's useless. It goes away when I reload it.

I know this thread is more about the MDA Talkbox, but I've used Surge quite succesfully for my modest vocoding needs. The vocoder feature is not explicitly mentioned anywhere in the synth's feature list, but it's there. And you get the convenience of having the carrier built in the vocoder.

Also free, PC only is

the Vocov vocoder, which I like cuz its small and you dont have to fiddle with Left/Right sends and such.

You stick a "capture" plugin on one track to capture the modulator (if necessary), and then stick the Vocov plugin on the Carrier track.

This one is cute
