live is cack on g5.
I have had identical problems. I have found though that Live is totally stable when using rewire in protools. So Mbox can't be the problem, hmmm.......

hi Kleine,
I have read all the stuff in the FAQ's, and searched the forums for all stuff related to M-box,and still have had little joy with it.
I actually upgraded from the digidesign version to Version 3, and have now found the m-box to be very tempremental, with regular crashing.
am i right in saying that it is Digidesign's Core Audio driver's that are the problem? or is there a solution I have not found.
Live works great with the internal sound card, but is working only around 30% of the time for me with the m-box.
any word or advice from Ableton would be very much appreciated.
regards,
am

Hi, I have had the exact same problems with my mbox and Live 3. Funny thing is, live digi edition worked perfectly with the mbox and now live 3 will barely open when the audio engine is set to the mbox??. The problem is obviously with digidesign's coreaudio driver. live 3 operates perfectly when using the built-in audio on my g5 (but then i can't use the mbox to record!!).
live tech support has been very helpful, though i'm not sure if they understand the severity of this coreaudio issue. last they told me after trying a number of things was to reinstall pro tools completely to make sure the coreaudio is installed properly in conjunction with live 3. we'll see if it works.
best, DS

Does this mean that in order to use Live 3.04 with an Mbox, I need to switch to the "digidesign edition"?? I had no problems at all in Jaguar but with Panther, Live keeps "quitting".kleine wrote:Hello all,

Core Audio Driver 6.5
Hi Everybody
You may have already solved this problem... but DS posted a message in this category called:
New CoreAudio support for Live 3.x in OS X!!!
in which he pointed out that the "unexpected quit" can be solved by using Digidesign Core Audio Driver 6.5 with MacosX. I tried it and it worked. It might not work for everybody with different set-ups but It does seem to be a driver issue (and not just a lack of RAM as I was told).
Hope this helps

solution found!
downloading the core driver update 6.5.1 from the digidesign site fixed my problem completely. I have not had Live Crash in 3 days ( it had crashed 48 times the week prior to the download.) Go to the digidesign site and find this download!
