"it" being making things so that it will sound when you press a key and not sound when you release the key

are you talking about morph maybe... its so hard to be specific with all these strange terms... I think you are talking about what Kyma or Prosoniq Morph does. if so, get morph, as kyma is an entire system vs. a plugin. when I say morph I mean for a sound to smoothly change frequency from i.e. a chainsaw into a guitar, or a reverse beat into a forward. does this not sounding like a crossfader but a morph...

cant be done with ableton stock plug, has to do with frequency analyzing. hope this was on topic here...
2.0Ghz Coreduo PC notebook, 4GB ram, Overclocked to hell sittin on aluminum extra fans w/ no drivebay or pcmcia...
2.8Ghz Quadcore on Asus MB, 4GBRam, Dual 512MB SLI Graphics both @16x.

if you're talking transformer scratch, try using an unlinked clip envelope for volume.

or midi gater if you want to do it manually by pushing a button/key

Could probably be done by just linking a key to Live's gate threshold (w short attack, decay and no sustain)? If that doesn't work, invert the gate.
