reassigning drums for the axiom

Post by darkcatt » Tue Jan 16, 2007 4:05 pm

How do I reassign the notes to play drums on the drum pads with this axiom 25. I just got this thing last month and I am finally getting to tinker with it.

I think programming the Axiom pads is like this (mostly from the manual, my own notes in italic):

< Press the pad you want to program
< Press the Advanced button.
< Press the Ctrl Assign key.
< The LCD display will flash the currently assigned controller for the pad.
< Enter 147 for Note on/off (press/release)
< Press the Enter key to confirm.
< Press the Advanced button again.
< Press the Data 1 key.
< The LCD display will flash the currently assigned note for the pad.
< Enter the note number you want the pad to transmit using the numeric keypad.
Note numbers for the Impulse are: 60, 62, 64, 65, 67, 69, 71, 72
< Press the Enter key to confirm.

You can also use the Enigma software which is a free download at the m-audio web site.

Thanks for the instructions. I mapped my axiom 25 pads in less than 10 minutes. Now, it's time create custom impulse drum kits.

Am I the only one who finds it a little odd that the pads in Impulse don't each have a corresponding learn button? It's 2007, folks - there's no good reason we should be fiddling with these arcane menus on our hardware.
