I'm an american, deal with it!

;)

Americans either look down on the french for not supporting the US in Iraq (good for you!) or they use French to make themselves sound sophistocated. Half of them couldn't find it on a map.

cause it seems that americans really have a problem with it.
not only the lower class ppl.

i guess it's got a little to do with US "ego" too. the rest of the world doesn't count much (that's the way i feel it anyway).
but then, there's this girl who doesn't think of the USofA as a nation that begins with a U, or this guy that says Utah.
it might have to do with geography lessons still.
We get it in primary school, and that's about it.

Another thing to keep in mind (this isn't a defense, but more of an excuse). How much pop culture does the US import, compared to any other country? In other words, how often does the 'average' American get exposed to the lives of people in other countries?

It's spelt Oirish ya fekker!

Proof that Jesus was Irish:
1. He never got married
2. He never held a steady job
3. He went out drinking with the lads the night before he died
4. His last request was a drink
5. He lived with his parents until he was 29
6. He thought his mother was a virgin, and she, god bless her, thought he was the saviour of the world

The other answer...
So they wouldn't rule the world!

Why did the sun never set on the British empire?
Because god didn't trust them in the dark.

that's what i meant by the #1 country in the world.
you rely much less on other countries (taking oil out of the picture and the fact that you can't keep such a big army without any activities).
so you are less exposed to them.

and the fact that you are isolated geographically doesn't help, that's for sure.

but then, the fact that you don't have too much education in geography is a sign too imo. it' like it's not very important.

Peeddrroo, geography is *not* important. Knowing the average annual rainfall of France compared to Spain isn't important. But courses like the beautiful " international studies" are.

Hell, a class called "let's read the paper 101" is more important than geography!
