OT: Anyone here work out (exercise)?
Nuero Physiology research hints that the most effective workouts before cortisol levels rise (which are stress hormones that break down muscle tissue) are about 50 min max (hour 20 min for a pro athlete). That's one reason why smart and healthy pro athletes never spend 3 hours in the gym (unless they are juiced of course) but split work outs into am/pm.aqua_tek wrote:Started my workout last night... my muscles are so fucking sore today.
Walkin around like I'm frankenstein and shit
Also lift as heavy as possible or train in a static contraction method (hold your rep for a count of 15 on the way down and up to a count of 5).....
I am pushing 40, been training since I was 16, spend less than an hour in the gym, have more strength than most people, and non of the injuries. This is not to brag, but to share the secret of working out as a lifestyle that can last decades....
I only train biceps and chest 3 times a month as they pull you into flexion and give that military/rounded shoulders/forward neck ape appearance (let alone the fact that you'll never throw a good punch if need be when these muscles are stimulated)
I squat/dead-lift/pull ups/upright rows 2-3 times a week. This CORE training keeps extension based muscles strong as not to look like an ape, but to be VERY STRONG!

ive been doing yoga for approximately 2 years now. My chiropractor actually reccomended it. I found it funny how after doing yoga for about 2 weeks I ended up not craving or wanting any fast food and really REALLY started to like the way my body felt, and responded to food.
Its really funny too, I started to think and pay more attention to the little nuances of my body. I would definately reccomend yoga, it was designed as a way to put the body into its most optimum form. In fact after going to an hour and half long yoga class i tend to feel like i spent all day swimming...and its not a real pull or hurt on your muscles either the next day, but usually more of a warm kinda "ahhh" feeling...

I started rock climbing last year. It was amazing, and then I broke my ankle being drunk at a club... Gained 20 pounds sitting on my ass for a year after that...
Now that I'm fine again I started climbing again. Greatest workout ever. You get sore muscles all over you never knew existed.
Also, I just got a dog. Probably the best motivator to go out and exercise. The little guy is always wanting to go out running
