hissy & pumpy Compressors?

Post by Pantytec » Fri Jun 15, 2007 5:27 pm

Anyone know of any plug-ins? Either free or to buy?

If someone is gonna say is "well why would you want that???".

Not to be a dick, but don't worry about it, and go back to making Trance.

If anyone knows please post your suggestions.

thx!

The elemental audio plugin, Newodynium is fantastic for pumping, more so than any other plugin I've tried. It's bundled under Rodger Nichols garbage now and is probably three times the price it used to be, but I recommend it.

I'm not sure if it's pumping the way you want it, but Sonalksis released a new plug in today -- TBK3 Über Compressor.

Couldn't try it myself yet, but people seem to like it a lot already.

wow, that TBK3 sounds awesome. I've been looking for a software alternative to my Alesis 3630 for pumping.

Not if it's thin and sounds like ass. And why do an EQ8, POST compressor to thickin it up? I'll pay for the shit bro. I'm just not gonna be using shwag plugs for my sound. I carve my ass off for my sounds. And I gotta have the right tools. Now if I was making queer Trance, it wouldn't matter. Anything will do there.

Fair enough, but you can get good pumping results out of any half-decent compressor - even Live's own - if you know what you're doing.

Sound like you need hardware anyway - Joe Meek gear is quite coloured and aggressive-sounding or you could try the Fatman stuff from TL or the Really Nice Compressor....

VW for pumping? Not like a true sidechain in my experience, but would anybody publish some settings for me to try out?

And this new sonalkiss plug - side chain not working? Can we get a confirmation?

For around $400, what's the best compressor for pumping? Is it better to go hardware for this?

The new Sonalkiss plug is an EQ sidechain (like the one already bundled with Live), not a real sidechain where you can route the kick to it.

but anyways, just mix with the kick louder than the rest and it will pump.
