for free, of course.

that generates midi, or osc.

of course, you'd need osc support for that.....
OSC will certainly be part of the C74 collaboration.

Sampler reads .rex files and has multiple outs

also the ability to edit individual zones - you know send a filter type to one zone and another type to another zone

think about it ...

most of the update requests i see are additions for a routine/free update, nothing major.

and what major feature can they add worthy of a $129 update fee?
You'd be surprised what software companies can charge money for:)

I think they must be re-designing the midi spec.

Last time I checked Live already thinks a program change event is a pitch bend message while assigning mappings.

Seriously, Why cant we use program changes to fire a clip or change rack chains?

Who knows, maybe sysex might get thrown in for good measure in the next release?

program changes? sysex?

get real.

I have a feeling ableton are looking forward to a day when these relics of a time gone bye are really actually gone.

(and btw - what is the difference between selecting a rack change with a controller, and selecting a rack chain with a program change?)

Personally I would pay $129 just for an Arrangement window that was as versatile as Logic's Arrange page, and the ability to split Live into three windows, Arrange, Session, and Edit. The fact that all the editing has to happen in a small sub-window is the main PITA with song writing in Live to me.
you said it, mate.
Yeah, +1 to that!

I really like the idea of three windows.

Sampler reads .rex files and has multiple outs
I was wondering about this recently - it reads REX files, but you can't see those files in Live's browser, so how does that work? I wish you'd be able to preview them from the browser just like an audio file, and simply drag into Sampler like you would with Simpler. Also, with a REX file loaded how does Sampler work for simply using it as a playback device for the file? Is it just triggered from a midi note?

Get real? Havn't you looked at current midi hardware?
Although the midi spec is getting long in the tooth, it is still current and not from the 'days gone bye'. I wish it was better, but until we see something that actually is, I would love our Live to support it.

Here's a riddle:

If Ableton has news this week, then why did we receive their newsletter 5 days ago?
