If you like Apple you should like Digidesign.
Why does apple have a high reputation for stability? - Nice Software & they control the hardware that it can run on. = less problems better support.
Why is protools widely used? Nice Software & they control the hardware that it can run on. = less problems better support.
I a protools user. I mix everything in protools on a windows Box. But im a techy linux geek that knows how to maintain a system. Most users dont. My multi computer setup is way more creatively powerfull than most but the average user would fall on there face with it. People are dumb, give them a Mac with protools they will be more productive and able to work happily.

Dongles suck that's why even though you still need one for your plugin's for protools.Amberience wrote:That's bollocks. If you want to make money from software, get a dongle. Don't limit it to a soundcard. A dongle would provide the same protection - Cubase 4 hasn't been cracked, Logic 7 hasn't been cracked. Safe to say that no one will manage it with the current protection scheme.Meef Chaloin wrote:stupid or clever?
seems the way forward if you actually wanna make some money from your software
So why prevent prospective users from buying into the software. Digi should do a software only version, which comes with whatever dongle protection the former 2 are using, and open up Pro Tools to the hobbyist market.
Very little actual work involved in doing that.

I cant have 3 synths, a mic, and a guitar in an mbox at the one time though... m-audio firewire mixer works alot better for me.Darrel855 wrote:The wealthy ? you can pick up a used m-box for $200-$300 and the PT upgrade for $75 .funky shit wrote:And selfish to keep a brilliant piece of software limited to the wealthy.Meef Chaloin wrote:stupid or clever?

Hi,
why do you need to send pro tools audio in/out of the m-audio ISO? I'm not familiar with this ISO. Does it have more inputs/outputs than your mbox?
I'm not sure if this works, but maybe you could use rewire and have pro tools as slave and live as master and set up lives outs to the m-audio box's outputs. Just means you run live like a mixer between audio interfaces. See If it works!
You could also record into pro tools through live if it works. It seems like a big effort to do all of this, but it could just work.
Good luck.

One nice thing about PT only working with Digidesign hardware is that when something goes wrong... you contact digidesign. Period. (dunno about the mpowered....)
They can't tell you "its a hardware driver issue, go bug them" and have the hardware people tell you "its a software issue go bug them".
Same principle with Reason not using VSTs. It sucks, but its also great (stablility, sound quality).
Also, when Digidesign was creating their software, there were no other soundcards for years and years and years, so this was a non-issue. And now its ingrained. Seems that with m-powered they may be changing their tune a bit....

3 Rewired synths 1 mic on 1 input and one guitar on another input. That's where the jesus I pulled that out of.funky shit wrote:Darrel855 wrote:So you're saying you don't know what you're doing?funky shit wrote: I cant have 3 synths, a mic, and a guitar in an mbox at the one time though... m-audio firewire mixer works alot better for me.
