can anyone help me out with this, or is there another solution?
I haven't been able to construct a live set using live that would last for more than 20 minutes of musical variation. im talking about drum kits, fx and synths here, not loops. the cpu usage and number of devices i need -live cant cope. I've been using it for 2 years but still catn figure it out. i thought racks would be my answer, but they havn't done much for the cpu usage front ive discovered.
i could manually switch on and off each device i guess, but thats a hell of a lot of midi work and there must be some other easier more organised way.

You can map the on/off buttons of devices to a macro. The same macro you use to select devices.queglay wrote:so does anyone know why the chains and rack method is using up so much cpu? it definitely isn't turning of all the devices when the chain isn't selected.
You can map the range of the on/off buttons.
So for chain 1 it would be 0-0 (of 127)
Chain 2 is 1-1..
And so on...
Ohhhh, nice. I hadn't thought of that. I was using the channels to fade from instrument to instrument in 8 steps, but that is a little CPU intensive. I like this solution better, even though one can't fade between instruments.hoffman2k wrote:You can map the on/off buttons of devices to a macro. Say, do the new Ableton instruments accept Prog changes like Sampler does?
nice idea, ill have a shot at that one.
well actually you probably still could fade from instrument to insrument. you just would have to keep the instrument active until the fade is finished.
