I am glad Ableton is producing a product that makes them money. That money allows them to create a better product. I learned my lesson at Live 2. I held out for as long as I could before going to 3. I felt that I did not tap out the feature set in Live 2. Finally when it was time to move to 3, they announced Live 4. So I upgraded to Live 4. When I was ready to get my fingers into Live 5, Live 6 was announced and the pattern continued.
bOunce, I hear what you are saying (for the most part) but my solution has been to skip every other (odd) version. I have no trouble with bugs or shortcomings. Either I don't notice them or I find work arounds. A few years back, I decided not to upgrade my software for features alone. It forces me to really learn my applications inside and out. Have I upgraded to Live 7? No, because there is nothing that I need from it.
The free market will prevail. If you don't buy it, they will not sell it. If they can't sell it, they will find a way to do so. Time is always on the side of the consumer.
Just my input.
Peace to all.
Regards,
CMcG37

...and why didn't they include the 128 cores support since the first version, because in 15 years you won't find a computer under 128 cores!
Maybe, they are just so stupid!
Yeah, that's it, for sure

P.S.: you forgot
11. they don't moderate their forum
12. [insert DAW] sounds better
13. the location of the edit button depends on their developer's form on the day and the areal precipitation in berlin
1. You have a point
9. You have half a point
2 & 3 are grossly unfair
the rest are silly.

I completely understand where b0unce is coming from... However, it is obvious this thread was intended to be vindictive and slanderous.
To: b0unce, not everyone uses .nki. If you believe in quality, you would probably benefit a lot by using the Tascam Giga format, which works amazingly well with Ableton Live. Also... Ableton Live distributes an all-in-one demo download for a reason... and that is simply to demonstrate the software capabilities. If you are not satisfied with your purchase, you probably should have downloaded the demo first.
Oh, and ... All software companies are totalitarian... They all provide minimal support to the end user... And who could blame them? It is not easy to support a product that may or may not have been "hacked" ...
Like I said, I know where you all are coming from. I.e. "Lovers of Live" and "Haters of Live." ... But ... ALLLLL software has got a looooong way to go.

When they were busy putting V1 together i think they would have done that without customer funding and ran up loads of dept.b0unce wrote: a: to clarify, I mean they put most of their resources into the next version, not what you just paid for. so it takes 8 god damn months to fix your problem, instead of
Then they sold V1 and paid off that dept and started working towards 2, thus getting themselves in loads of dept - more this time cos they are expanding. Then they release version 2 and with that money they pay off the dpts of making that version before moving onto 3.
Then 4, etc.
really they work a year in hand and get masses of funding from leasing companies yeqar on year and then pay them back on the release of the version.
When you paid for 6 - you paid for that upgrade and paid the dept they took in order to make it.
Also they didnt join M-Audio, M-Audio was just their distributor of choice BECAUSE they have a market share.
Ableton = Quality.
64bit intergrated with Paid 5.2 upgrade. Hmm, didnt you get a refund for that upgrade when you bought 6??
Hi folks, smutek wrote:So, you don't think he has a valid reason to be pissed off?
I think B0unce has a very good reason to not be happy, since a thing he was told that was working actually doesn't work. And I'll add that yes, I'm and others are communicating with him as to try to solve the problem, he's not lying. Then:
- that's a very specific problem.
- software development phases are more complex than what B0unce seems to think they are.
- We do our best to solve it, given a lot of parameters are involved(not business parameters), that none, not even B0unce, could be aware of.
- The only informations we have to solve this issue are from B0unce. No other has reported the same issue, not even the company that sold the nki files to B0unce. So far he's been a great help
- Format translation IS a tricky business.
B0unce: if you do not like our way of doing things, and are not happy with what you bought, or our way to deal with it, feel free to ask for a refund. We've can offer a refund to people not happy with the product they bought, and we also offer free products to someone who is particularly helpful, at occasions. That's what it takes to be a "bad business model" oriented company. Feel free to behave as you wish, but please try to match private/public communication, it's too complicated otherwise.
Kind regards,
Amaury

one huge issue i have with live is the midi timing.Right now I have 5.2 and it utterly sucks compared to my xl7.Same midi data, and it feels like a different song.Live could be a great sequencer for hardware.
Shouldn't ableton move into the new version with new features and not problem fixes. If you fix the problem that the older version has, shouldn't the old version be updated with a problem fix. This is such an asshole move on ableton side.
YOU FUCKS OWE ME BETTER MIDI TIMING.
and no I won't give you any more money ever again unless this is fixed.
This shows us how serious Ableton is about what they do to survive

That same model now has airbags, drinks 1 liter of gas on 20 kilometers instead of 13 and comes with a built-in MP3 player..
Still waiting for my dealer to fix me..

Sloppy Midi timing is a problem and fixing it is not a new feature.I will pay for new features but not for problem fixes.
BTW this is software and not a car and what kind of dumbass company waits for 3 versions to adress a very important issue such as midi timing
