Without wishing to get all "tinfoil hat" on yo' ass, I think you're absolutely right.

Yeah yeah, impeach Cheney, Bush is a cunt, watch the monkey, look at this very interesting thing over here...

If the average joe (we the people) were to collectively FEEL the feelings of anger that come up around this, it would be a powerful moment (a wolf-dog outside just howled as I typed that).

Instead, we the people go home, rent a movie, surf the web, stuff snacks into our mouths, drink, smoke, anything but to feel the outrage.

and that's a big energy and THEY control it. For now.

Sure it was on the news, but did we all just 'infer' that it was about "winning the war"? Some rich ass folks were toasting Hennessey that day to something bigger.

And what of all the nation-states that are still going through the decolonization process.... what do we find? The invisible hand still extracting wealth and resource from the periphery and sending it to the emeregent core, gotta love the World System. Didn't the US gov contract Hall and friends to build over a dozen bases in Iraq? I think the shit is locked, including election 2008. I have perfectly good fucking reasons for it. Just take a look at the USA starting Election 2000. We could go back further but what's the point.

It matters with "precedent" this adminastration has paved the way for future criminals in the white house. If we impeach at least it shows a message.

This administration is responsible for a great deal of turmoil, no doubt, but the "way for future criminals..." was well paved waaaaay before Bush and Co.

yeah but I think they have definitely taken a few things a step further in the wrong direction - they have really tested how much they can get away with

the erosion of civil liberties is WAY scarier now because the technology is available to really control people

imagine if there was a draft like vietnam and people tried to escape it - you'd need money - ATMs and transactions can lead them to you, even bus/train tickets are changing to make you completely traceable - there are technologies being developed right now that will be able to track your every movement with the thousands of CC-TV cameras all over the place just by matching your photo to the database

people like Bush et al are scary because they say things like "if your not doing anything wrong it wont affect you" yet they move the bar on what is considered "wrong" all the time

it's really the wrong time in history to be getting these kind of heavy handed right wing governments

and the crazy paradox is - they are supposed to be the ones rooting for minimal government inteference - which is true in business, but when it comes to individual rights they are all for imposing rules on people and deciding what's best for everybody like abortion, banning stem cell technology etc etc

long and the short of it is, they are the last people I'd want deciding what's best for me and enforcing it with big brother technology

Never before has the public been this aware of them doing it while they are doing it. Habeas Corpus being taken away is huge. It makes me sick when people say "that only effects criminals". When its a matter of national security fuck a legal wire tap just like the past presidents have done, they just wanted to be able to tap anyone in america. Never before has the constitution been this threatened in american history. Never before has a president distanced themselves this far from the senate and the house. Maybe my imagination is too big for my own good but the possibilities of what could happen in the future is really scary to me.
I thank god Im an american citizen because i know the things i fear happen in this world regularly and my brain tells me if it happens somewhere it could happen here its just more unlikely.

As you are probably aware, HR33 was voted on and passed and has gone to the next stage to John Conyer's Committee on the Judiciary

the phone lines are ringing off the hook over there. the guy that answered had a very busy tone in his voice and patched me through to a comment line to leave a message. but again, lots of people are calling so lets keep it going.
