I have a related problem...

I purchased the boxed version of 6 in October (which included EIC1) so I was eligible for the upgrade to the boxed version of 7 with EIC2 for $39. After I bought the upgrade, downloaded the setup file, and installed 7, I found no proof that it came with EIC2. When I go to the "install live packs," EIC2 does not show up. I guess I'll just wait for my box/disc to come in the mail and see if I can install it from there. I know that I should have gotten EIC2, but I don't know how to activate it...

Any help?

Hi there,

we are aware that's a tricky one, let me try to explain:

- All Live 7 boxes come with the EIC 2 content (some GB of Live Packs)
- An EIC serial number is required to install the EIC 2 Live Packs. This serial number is not included in boxed Upgrades to Live 7
- EIC 1 and EIC 2 serial numbers are identical, so you can install and unlock the EIC 2 Live packs with an EIC 1 serial number

So, if you bought the EIC 1 with Live 6 and therefore own an EIC serial number already, you can install and use the EIC 2 content from your Live 7 boxed upgrade.

If you do not yet own an EIC serial number, you'd have to purchase the EIC 2 from our webshop before you can install the EIC 2 content from your Live 7 boxed upgrade.

Does this clear things up for you?

Awesome! So, does a serial number for EIC2 come with the suite box? You don't need EIC1 do you?

The boxed Suite comes with an EIC serial number (and the content of course), the download version of Suite does not.

Thanks Martin...

One thing though,
When I open the Live Packs tab in the Preferences menu, it lists the live packs I have installed...Basics: Installed, Demo Songs: Installed, EIC: Brass : Installed, and so on. Should I see something like EIC2: Brass, or EIC2:(any instrument pack) there? The only reason I know that I don't have EIC2 is because I don't have the new demo songs that ableton says is included. When I "Search for Live Packs," nothing comes up!
I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong, or if I'm doing anything wrong...I just want to get EIC2 on this computer :)

So, the EIC dvd that comes in the boxed upgrade is basically useless if EIC wasn't purchased?

Well, you can test listen to the EIC sounds in Demo Mode. But basically, yes, it's a nice beermat.
