why does everybody say Ableton?
why does everybody say Ableton?
it seems everyone calls it "Ableton" and not Live
is it just vague saying "Live" or does it feel strange?
what do you call it and why?

Live is the product, Ableton is the Company, that's why I call it 'Ableton Live'

he? read propperly! of course ableton is NOT a product, but because LIVE is the only main product they do, everyone knows if you say i use ableton that you mean live.Poster wrote:Ableton is not a product, Live is..SubFunk wrote:because it is the only main product the company does. so it is clear what you are talking about, by saying i use ableton...
Ableton Live might also be a proper name..
and nice from you to point out that ABLETON LIVE is the correct name, alltogether.
thanks, i would not have guessed.

I said: Ableton Live *might also* be a proper name
Q: "what do you use to record your music?"
Me : " I use Live, it's really good"
Q : "what, what did you say?"
Me : " I use Live, you know Ableton Live, it's like a musical spreadsheet (!)"
Q :" oh, Ableton, my friend uses Ableton, he says is real dope for breakin' up loops of other peoples music and stuff, he had a number one in Latvia. He loves Ableton so much he gave me a copy of it."
Me : " *sigh* , yep , that sounds about right "

Actually, to be honest, it is simply because "Live" is too generic to gain purchase in most people's minds. They needed a name like "Snorggles" or "poophat 9 " to make people remember it.
Otherwise it's like calling your band "Band" , no Google for you my friend

I've had sex with Ableton. During the afterwards "cuddling" which Ableton required, there was plenty of pillow talk...I literally couldn't get Ableton to shut the hell up. One of the things Ableton mentioned is that you definitely are not a good friend. You never call. You don't write. It's over man, deal with it. Ableton's mine now. Although I really just want to go home afterwards because I'd rather make some music instead of cuddling.jez3122 wrote:I'm on first name terms because i consider ableton a good friend
I posted this thread because the DJ on JJJ radio (Australias Radio one) just told us all how the producer of a track 'did it all in Ableton'
I am actually postulating a theory that there is some kind of psycho-linguistic phenomenon at work here
Good mates who are DJs straight away called it Ableton with no prompting
I myself actually call it Ableton sometimes and I seem to have no control over this
I think there is some kind of psychological aversion at work

interesting though how automatically people avoid these kind of linguistic ambiguities
