right now I'm just praying they don't do that overlay, like they did on the Evolver. Mine got scuffed up really quick and now it just looks like somebody forgot to take the protective sticker off... :-|

Hmm...
There will be two models: the all-digital LinnDrum II and the LinnDrum II Analog, which adds a 4-voice analog synth and 27 dual-function voicing knobs.
Just counted - these 27 synth related knobs, are they just all the knobbage on the left side of the unit in the render on the DSI site? How are you all reading this? Will the all-digital unit have no knobs atall?
Suit #1: I mean, have you got any insight as to why a bright boy like this would jeopardize the lives of millions?
Suit #2: No, sir, he says he does this sort of thing for fun.

I'm just waiting to see how complete the analog section is, is it geared only towards drum synthesis, or will it work more like an Evolver. Hopefully the later, I've been dying for a new all in one groovebox lately, and this could be it.

There's no question. I played before Prefuse at a concert this summer. You wanna know what he uses on stage? An MPC and an Evolver. Opened for lowfish the other day and he's using an Evolver as well. They're the best analogue solution right now. Now imagine throwing one into a beat box like the MPC, and then add real-time recording (the ability to stop recording while playing and loop back). By design alone this is the best beat box, period.

Akai has nothing on this.
Macbook Pro (core2duo), iMac (santa rosa), OSX 10.5, X-Station, G-Drive, MPC 1000 (JJ OS 4.95).

Yeah, I just had to sell my Evolver desktop and I'm not happy about it, was a wonderful synth. To have this bundled with a drum machine would be great. Right now I'm looking at eventually getting a monomachine to go with my machinedrum, but would be great to have it all in one box.

I will never sell that blue box....they'll have to bury me with it... so diiirty...

saving up for the pre order of this beast...
and... I beleive it's a sampler ...otherwise it would be pretty lame...
this looks like a 'all groovebox' killer rather than just an 'mpc killer'...
and I guess it will also be my bank account killer...

the elektron stuff is great... but I think it lacks some ballz....
had the monomachine for a while... and while it's nice...soundz very digiclean
I wouldn't buy one....rather get a nordlead for cheaper...
and with more voices...
...and knobs..

I really love the evolver, man. I have yet to sort of "place it" in my setup though. I have been meaning to hardwire it to a drum sequencer for a while, much inspired by the boom chick (which I will call it until my death).

hey 3dot..., do you perhaps have some evolver patches you'd like to share? shoot me an email!

the question is:

sell or not sell the tr 909?

i love drum machines.

my 909 had been tempting me to turn it into a machine drum, and i have successfully resisted.. but this thing has me by the balls.

Well, considering the heritage of the BoomChik (Linn/Smith, and esp. Roger Linns connect with the mpc) plus the TWO modes of real-time sequencing on the BoomChik.... yum. I may have to start saving already!
