Er, then why not have automap on?

(I had my headaches with the SL and then realized I just needed to back to working on actual music)

Automap is basically balls for making your own custom templates. i.e. Mapping out every knob+button the way you want it for a live gig. It's great for mapping vst's though.

They don't update automatically from Live.

They do update when you switch template (pulling in the labels from that template).

If you're not using Automap then surely the mappings are relatively fixed? So why would you need them to update?

And if you need more controllers than the Novation physically has, then you can create multiple templates on the Novation and it will pull the names in from them when you switch.

Yes, it's a bit more work than having the Novation pull the names down from Live. But I don't find it to be a big deal in practice...

I could care less about the names being pulled down. What I care dearly about is the values being updated like every other midi controller does.

If I move a fader on screen with a mouse, or other controller, I want that value reflected on the RemoteSL's LCD. This way, when I go to move the Remote SL controller, it doesn't jump... like it currently does.

I'm sure you know, but the pickup mode options were added in Live 6, value scaling is tits.

Yeah, I have tried that as well, but it screws up other things I have going on with MidiPipe.

edit: Plus, if i can't see the monitor, and only the remoteSL, I have no idea what the parameter is set at in Live.

So shall we say the SL series is the best we have for the price but nowhere near what we need? To add impact I will use this face. :x
