pros
sound: very, very good i.m.o.
interface: very nice..
for some reason it really has those quirky analog behaviour thingies..
cons
missing some essentials like..
Velocity/Aftertouch destinations - not very expressive..
FM/Cross-mod would've expanded the sonic spectrum alot..
Has hardwired LFO's - too bad..
I think AAS did a very good job on the oscilator/filter algorithms but specwise forgot to lift it into this century..
The specs are basicly too 70's-80's analog synths.. But I guess that's what they had in mind..
Ableton ANALOG any Good?

You can create some pretty awesome sounds with Analog, but I find Operator better, since it's not as heavy on the CPU as Analog (at least some of the presets are CPU hogs on my old PC). Analog is something that's cool to have, but it's not necessary if you already own Operator and know how to use it.
This is exactly right. Lots of VA soft synths sound great. Analog sounds good just like automat sounds good, just like minimonsta sounds good, just like ARP2600 does, pro-53 and plenty others. They all have their character, but I personally prefer the others.SMonk wrote:It sounds nice, but so do a hundred other VA synths (including a bunch of free ones).
I guess it's just a necessity for those who want to keep everything in Live and use only native devices. For those people, you gotta have you basic phat VA.
