kanye punk'n the grammy's
just caught this video on another forum, http://youtube.com/watch?v=L2Y4IC8Cnu8, and i see that its been mentioned earlier in this thread. the videos pretty mince until the pyramid lights up and DP appear. i got a lemur-semi when i saw those samples being triggered does that make me sad??
as for kanye, i've never been a fan, he contradicts himself all the time, when in actual fact he's just trying to cover up his insecurities, just a case of emperors new clothes in that radio stations here in the UK (i.e. bbc radio1) have no choice but to talk him up due to record company politics and the need to seem cutting edge and cool.
i watched a video of kanye in the studio making the beat for stronger with timbaland, and he's all like 'i'm looking for a more compressed beat, something like boom..' and timbaland just looks like 'what the fuck am i doing here with this dick?'
as for daft punk, i would have let him make the stronger in the studio and then hit him with a massive sample clearance percentage, so either its a waste of his time, or he gets little cash from it.
you can probably guess im not kanyes biggest fan.
peace,
kpa
p.s. he has a goofy jaw.

Before you get all breathless about "Grammy-winning album" do go back and check out some other Grammy winners. Like Billy Joel and Dexy's Midnite Runners. All she did was write some lyrics and sing on a grammy winning album. Yes that's very easy.
And Jethro Tull, as brilliant as they were, winning for Best Hard Rock/Heavy Metal record in 1988?
Sometimes the Grammys get it right, but when they don't it's a howler.

I don't know if bullshit is a word I would use to describe the argument between rap and hip-hop.
The fact of the matter is, music is changing. It changes everyday.
What would you describe the Chemical Brothers as? Linkin Park? Prodigy?
They take elements from all genres and sub genres to make music.
Potter Stewart summed up "hard - Core P*rnography" as hard to describe but I know it when I see it!
Same goes for Hip-Hop, rap, pop, electronica, rock etc etc
I know a rap album when I hear it - I know a hip-hop album when I hear it
I know a pop album when I hear it.
Can't put it in word or even give it an award but you know...just listen.

Hear The Music, Feel The Music, Be The Music
I forget that this is kind of a DJ-centric crowd and doing shit like triggering samples and filter sweeps is considered a performance. yes, they were affecting the audio live. big fucking deal.RibbedSauce wrote:i think youll find that was daft punks to quote the news sites "first ever live tv performance"popslut wrote:Nothing is being triggered from those Lemurs. worse, I'm a bitter guitar player.RibbedSauce wrote:these bitter underground types
with this debate and debates about faking on stage or what is music, I think the times are just changing. as I grew up there was no DJ worship and very very little synth playing, times are changing, peoples' expectations are changing, the norm is changing.
Daft Punk displayed a level of dexterity and musiciality with their Lemurs that only consumate professionals with virtuoso skills could possibly pull off. they must've hit samples like 20 times, and I thought their quantization settings were incredible!!
damn kids these days...

Its one of the saddest things I've seen today.popslut wrote:Nothing is being triggered from those Lemurs. They are stage props.kpa wrote:those samples being triggered
4 Lemurs being smashed like its a game a whack-a-mole.
They're obviously stage props. I mean, how much would they be able to control anyway? The song is ripped, the effects are automated and I'm not even sure if Kanye isn't playbacking.
Funny youtube comments on that video. From calling people haters to claiming that hip hop is alive again.
Really sad...
I think somebody should combine reality TV with the premise of the game "Lemmings".
Splat... Splat... Splat...
its a 'live tv' performance, not 'live performance' on tv. although they are alive, so any interpretation works.RibbedSauce wrote: i think youll find that was daft punks to quote the news sites "first ever live tv performance"
anyway, why am i bothering.
i thought it was bobbins.
never liked either of the 'artists' involved.
best do something constructive. quick.
