Here's your proof in star signs Paws - I'm being a total Gemini here

by using only Painseekers original sample pack right now I'm using live in totally different ways to how I normally do and it rocks

for a start it never even occured to me that you can automate in the clip envelope EVERY SINGLE parameter on the impulse - so for example, using all the same hits I'm making a break beat on the same track as the main drum track to resample and then warp so I can get each sound sounding different without touching the parameters and stuffing up the first loop.

I think that 31.August is too short time for a contest fight!
I agree with pedroo (I think) that anyone can add on download site 2 samples, cause with one shot samples you can work a part of track, my opinion. When I do songs I use one shot and loop samples. So it'd be good to have also some of loop samples. 15 September it's a great time to finish track for a contest.

The people who complain to samples I'd like to say: Don't complain to rules, play the live it's better!

Yes, I'm serious - though that's maybe only for the hard core minimalists..?

heheh, doing an entire track using a three-drum-kit and ableton fx. Me likey. Doesn't have to be minimal at all, bro

As far as I know, all loops are made of single shot samples.... We're making a new challange.... stay tuned.
No offence but that is such a cop out. Thats like saying all milk is good for you... but damnit... soya tastes like shit!!

All elements in a loop may BE one-shots.. but its the grouping, the rhythm, the feel of a loop that gives it quality, not the instrumentation.

I'm glad some people are able to come up with fresh ideas from a kick drum.

I wasn't trying to piss in anyone's cereal because of my comment on the lack of loops. Just saying that strictly using one shots is not for me.

While watching the Olympics last night I did try to poke around with the samplepack and impulse and simpler and stuff, but it's just not the right flow for me. For me. The fact that others can work that way, great for them! I didn't bow out in some sort of "take my balll and go home in a huff" manner, more of a humbe "man, this is way over my head" manner.

Sorry if it came across as snooty. Didn't intend it to be that way at all.

Ah well. we got two things going here.
If you want to mess with loops, samples and shots, join contest two.
If you want to be amazed what live 4 can actually do. keep an eye on this one.

Some really nice where contributed for round two. And thats for 24 hours after i posted it.
Either way

Have Fun

I though I had live pretty sussed - the good thing about actually making a point of trying the first one is it FORCES you to try a different way of working - that's what I liked about it, I've been pretty damn impressed by what you can get out of live 4 with surprisingly little

if you're half arsed to start with you wont do it because you wont be thinking outside the box, you'll be looking for faults and problems

Hey Is this on or what? I posted as Tobanobu early on and Ive come back today under my real alias.

Im confused can I download the samples, but they are a bit naff? Personally I dont care what they are, I thought the fun would be in mangling them up and coming out with whatever...but then I aint no musician.

So if its still on can I still get the samples from the organiser?

Cheers, this is a great idea by the way...I really wanna hear what other people thought of from the same sample pot!

Have you put it up yet? otherwise i can provide the webspace. Although i'm more intrested in your als-file :)
Mine is almost done too. And i must say. I learned alot about sampling.
Just give painseeker a mail if you're done. Or provide the track to me if you want it to be put online.

Cheers
