Don't know about the macro controls.
Now I get what he was saying... Just like the drum racks... ahh... I wonder if you can go and put all the synts and map them to a drum rack? i don't know.. never have tried...

LOL Ok so the comment above was useless!! :) SORRY!!

So are those things fixed in Live 7?
Instrument and Drum racks have a folder-like feature for their chains. Consult the Live 7 manual to see if it is suitable for your situation. The section is called '16.8 Mixing with Racks' p. 236.

No parameter feedback in Live 7.

I think that's a great post.

So do multi-output instruments send all their outputs to one audio track when nested within a rack?

I'm not answering that one either.

Thank you laird, that was the info i was after.

I know about the (multiple channels) resizing, but having real organized folder and group tracks would make life much easier with live (esp. when using a mackie control where all channels get listed), IMHO.

miqueas1, I wasn't aware of the fact that you can install multiple program versions without getting into serious trouble. One common thing you learn as a windows user: DON'T DO THAT!

Nogi, sounds like a workaround for the folder issue. I'll check that. Thank you.

Does no one get annoyed by the parameter jumps when using macro controls? All you need is a controller box with endless encoders (relative setting) and a live version that would feedback parameter changes.

You can grab the audio from any output from any racked instrument from another audio track. You have been able to do this since racks were introduced in Live 6.

I checked the Live 7 demo and the good news are

- The drum racks and even more the rex support might be a nice addition for those without a drum VSTi. Since I have a dedicated drum VSTi for sequenzing drums (incl. groove matching and the like) and slicing / dicing audio and rex files, drum racks are of no use to me. But still. Feels good to have it.

- In my eyes, the most important new "features" are the natural soloing behavior (finally!!) and the new default color scheme - looks nicely bluish with less contrast.

the bad news:

- No folder tracks. The Rack thing does not work with multiple out VSTi the way I would think of a folder track feature.

- No macro control feedback. That's what I really don't understand. Since the introduction of racks in Live 6.0.0 I was convinced this gonna be fixed with the next minor bugfix. But even with version 7.0.2 still no feedback. Strange and truely annoying when using endless encoders with increment / decrement midi cc.

All the best,
spacebag

PS: oh, I placed a feature request regarding these issues. hope this gonna be implemented in live 7 already.
