I'm on my laptop at the moment - but I'm pretty sure that HID is active on my desktop because there's a wacom on there. That uses HID I seem to remember.

I was actually hoping you would have some crackles !
ah well, lucky you.

I contacted Behringer support about the midi driver and they told me I had a faulty unit.
Dear Angstrom,

After all you described in your message and as your BCR is equipped with the newest Firmware, your BCR2000 is defective.

Please contact your Dealer in order to get a quick and free exchange.

We hope that we have been able to help you with this information. Please feel free to contact us again, if you have any further questions.

Best regards,

Your BEHRINGER Customer Support Team

so I'm going to attempt to get it replaced and see if that makes any difference

That's it!!! Gonna try and get mine replaced too then, might still be under warranty. Please post again if that did/didn't solve it!

Haven't really tried the new -working- setup with a busy set yet and I've 2 UAD cards also so there might be crackling still to come :(

Cheers,
:D

May I report in? I also have TinyXP, still the best for audio production :) . With either the USB device and the dedicated BCR driver the BCR works now. I fear it isn't connected to the HID stuff...

Tiny XP kicks ass!
Thanks for chiming in I've had the BCR for months, now I finally get to use it!

Which version of TinyXP do you have?
So you're saying your BCR works with the Behringer driver?

It's got to be some sort of software thing though, now that I've taken out the Behringer driver the BCR works... Aargh.

That's too strange with your BCR (like mine some weeks ago, imagine me being dependent on it in a practice with my drummer, slowly getting mad everytime in the beginning).
I started with Rev 02 back then and stayed with it. Tried once the Rev 05 which was the latest back then but only had problems with the missing Firewire drivers. So I returned to Rev 02 which always was and still is rock solid.
I wish I could help you somehow  ...

OK another thing to take off the list of things to try then :D
I had rev 02, recently installed rev 05 to see if that would fix it.

Well... it works now. I tried tweaking the BCR like a mad dog with a busy Live set and it's fine. Don't seem to get the dreaded glichting Angstrom had - fingers crossed it stays like that.

So... it seems highly unlikely my BCF is broken, just had another long session using it extensively (knobs are niiice!!!) it works.

I'm going to leave it like this for now. Back to making tunez...
Thanks for all the info guys... any other suggestions are welcome.

Still only successful with the native Windows drivers or even with the BCR/BCF drivers now? Seems to be a little miracle how this device works (or even doesn't work;-)).
Anyway, good you got it sorted somehow. Good luck for your tune-ing!

Just in case someone else reads this who has similar problems:

The way i got it to work is:

- Behringer driver for the BCF (Cubase/Mackie emulation mode)
- Windows driver for the BCR ("USB audio device")

djsyncho, I just set up a new system and tweaked it for audio and stuff. Did you manually disable services for Windows being quicker and unloading crap you don't (seem to) need? I already had the suspicion that the cause for the bad work with the BCR was a result of disabling one or the other service that BCR depends on. This seems to be the case, as I have the same problems now on my new system after going through the services and disabling the ones that are not necessary. Maybe this causes your BCR to refuse work, assuming you're still on a Windows PC:-).

The Tiny XP already have tons of tweaks done and a shitload of stuff disabled.
I have been wondering if something was missing...

Do you still have access (or an easy way to revert to) your old system? What would help is a list of all the services that are running/available to compare it with my broken system!

Yes, the old system is still working. It is a bit of work for you, but I will export the service list and will post it here. Note that my personal disabling seems to have provoked the arbitrary dropouts of the BCR. Also, as I came to realise that it might be connected to my wild service-abortion sessions I enabled some services again, more on a chance principle than strategically. Thus some services can be disabled again. Will check later and post it then. Hang on:-).

PS: A recommendation - watch out for Tiny2003, a Windows Server 2003 version by eXperience. Is reported to be extremly stable. I just converted to Windows Server 2003 and have had a good rush so far :) .
