Well my opinion is complete opposite...Arnold-Rimmer wrote:As you said, Absynth, Zebra plus you forgot Reaktor, Massive and FM 8 have their own sound which I have yet to hear anything like in hardware. Sure it's subjective, but I have played around with a real moog and a software equivalent. To my ears they were both great and virtually identical in sound. However, if I had to choose, I would go for software everytime for convenience, portability and for less hassle. Plus my principles on what would be more environmentally friendly influence my choice too. Less power points and less energy to use to run software compared to hardware. As far as "mousing around the screen" goes, as you no doubt already know, a controller of some sort would solve that problem. Almost all the hardware I have owned has been sold with no regrets. The only hardware synth I now own is a Korg Triton and the only reason I am keeping it is because the second hand price these days is too low compared to what I paid for it.Machinesworking wrote:Because analog hardware sounds better to some of us, it's subjective, but I would never trade up a moog for a soft synth, it's just not the same mousing around on a screen, though soft synths like Absynth and Zebra have their own sound.Arnold-Rimmer wrote:I would never buy a hardware synth. Why bother when there is software that does so much more?
Just my opinion.
Access Virus TI...Nord 3.....software does not come close to these bad boys
For the analog sound NOTHING touches the Moog gear, Voyager / Phatty.....and add in some Moogerfoogers for good measure....
Nothing against software..had zebra 2, massive...got samplemoog and minimonsta....all good i admit, but for creative value you cant beat the real thing..
Just my opinion...
Doesn't matter whether the person won it because they had more money than the other bidders, or less sense than the other bidders. When you come to the end of the auction and you are the highest bidder, you've won. Now everybody play nice - someone just got new gear - it's a time to be happy for the gear whores in all of us!Sibanger wrote:Of course they do, fool.thefool wrote:huh?Sibanger wrote:It's funny that people who bid the most, say they have won something.![]()

Funny, I was never being not nice.
I wished the fool all the best with his JP8000.
It was just the irony of 'winning' something and paying for it caught my attention. I don't even care really, but sometimes having a bit of fun on this
forum can have some unpleasant results.
Oh, and I never called you a fool, just called you by your name.
Have fun with your new toy.
