I'm returning the Novation Nocturn
I'm returning the Novation Nocturn
I preorderd this thing months ago and I'm a bit disappointed. What good is automap if the knob moves won't be recorded on Live. I might as well put the money towards the Bitstream 3x... I might have kept it if there was an led display of which page number I was on.

Yeah, I just bought a Remote SL 25 -- it doesn't record in Session view, but neither does any other controller that uses automation. If you absolutely need control in session, use one of the standard MIDI templates...
MacBook 2 GHz Intel CoreDuo, 2GB RAM, Live 6.10, Reason 4.01, Reaktor 5.14, Novation Remote SL 25, GForce Oddity, TimewARP 2600, Arturia CS-80V 2, UC-33e, M-Audio FastTrack Pro, Roland Jupiter 6 w Europa mod

This is an ableton problem, not novation. Using automap is the same as assigning midi cc's to ableton's device parameters - you can't record automation in session no matter what controller you use.Aton wrote:I preorderd this thing months ago and I'm a bit disappointed. The only way is to midi learn knobs to parameters of a plug-in. You have to use the plug-ins own midi learn, not ableton's. And this can be done with any controller that sends midi cc, including the nocturn.

Agreed. I'll have to check out the Novation with Cubase. I gave up Cubase for a while for other reasons, but am curious to see if these changes could be recording without specific mapping on Cubase 4. Anyone know if the other DAW's have this limitation that Ableton has?R.J.Dubya wrote:This is an ableton problem, not novation.
