2) desktop dual g5
3) osx 10,3,5
4) 1,8 GHz ppc g5 (2x)
5) 256 mb
6) built-in 512 samples
7) 7200
Not too bad considering the 108% i got with my dual g4
cheers
I find this interesting as many of the Wintel machines between 2.8 - 3.2Ghz are around 25% and have over 256MB ram. Seems like the G5 is holding up quite well especially considering Live doesn't really use the second CPU very much. This is encouraging.hoffman2k wrote:1) 29-32%

Wow if you're hitting 50% with AMD's fastest "enthusiast" offering, your methods must be really demanding. What motherboard are you using? Have you considered overclocking? i think the FX-53 is the only new 64 bit chip with an unlocked multiplier, which basically encourages overclocking as long as you can regulate the temperatures.Luke@Intime wrote:Newly self built custom system:

Overall i rekon its around a 35% increase than my old system. Its mad how many plugins I can now load. I saved a song that I was working on which was at 84% in my old system (athlon 3200+, 7200rpm HD) and the system was pretty slow for what i needed. Now its at 50% and much smoother. I dont get my system grindin to a halt anymore which at the time was very frustrating..

i got my g5 yesterday. so far i can say it's more silent then my old g4 imac or g4 powermac. I did get the hiss with previous macs but the g5's built in outputs and a m-audio fw-410 give pretty clean sound now.raapie wrote:I am interested to find out if people are having problems with a noisy-fan and hum on the their soundcard. Some people using a dual G5 seems to have these problems while others don't. The hum-power issue is an old one so I suspect Apple has changed the power-adapter for the new G5's. Noise might not be an issue on the water-cooled G5's.
Please tell me more... my orange iMac is too old for any work at all... I am considering to spend some money on this guy Jobs...
Yeah, if i'm not mistaken i believe all the latest models are watercooled.raapie wrote:thansk for the update. is this with water cooling?
only the 2.5GHz models are water-cooled.hoffman2k wrote:Yeah, if i'm not mistaken i believe all the latest models are watercooled.raapie wrote:thansk for the update. is this with water cooling?
You practicly only hear the vent at startup. the fan of my external HD makes more noise then the g5 overall.
