i spare the rest of my comments... just don't assume that 'your way of living / society structure' is something all people looking up to... but i guess that is what the media shuffled so much down your throat that you started to believe that.

Unless you're an american diplomat, I don't think you have much to fear in Abu Dhabi. When's the last time you heard of a suicide bombing there?

And I would hate living in a country were 80% of the population is NOT local, and the remaining 20% live as if they were born were the majority comes from... That's why I called it fakeland.

That's my whole point. When I told others that I was moving to the Abu Dhabi, their immediate response was negative. Beirut... Baghdad... Abu Dhabi... they ignorantly put them all in the same Middle East basket.

and i'm really amazed to know that a very big percentage of europeans/americans i meet can't tell the difference between a Buddhist swastika AND a nazi swastika.

Fair enough, I didn't realise you were refering to people's reactions...
Anu Dhabi must be one of the safest places on earth.
Not sure I would enjoy living in such a place though. Too much buildings, too much sand, not enough equality between people, a place ruled by $$... But that's only my vision.
I'm glad you're having a good time though (sorry I got upset by your statement about suicidal bombings).

When I lived in Canada I often meet Americans who thought New Zealand was off the coast of Argentina.

AND i know there is a difference between the symbols you mentioned but I could not tell you which is which if presented with both.

But then again, I was in my 20's before I learn't that a tomato is a fruit.

I wish I knew everything.

So generalizing about France or Germany or Abu Dhabi is wrong (agreed), but generalizing about America because you've generalized that we generalize too much is okay?

I guess it's easier to pin a whole country as being stupid rather than to look inward at how stupid you yourself are.

That being said, Abu Dhabi always reminds me of Garfield and Nermal.

Hey hangar, nice to see someone else from Sing here. Yeah, i live right near the temple on Bukit Timah Road (plastered with swastikas), never fails to get a WTF reaction when I drive visiting friends past it.

But seriously, folks... 80 mile commute each way kinda rules out the bicycle, and the heat and maniac drivers rules out motorcycling.

A lot of guys carpool the commute.
