I'm running MAX/Msp and ableton, and after selecting rewire for MIDI output in MAX, I can't seem to select Rewire or MAX for MIDI input in Ableton. MAX and Rewire do not appear in the MIDI setup in Preferences. Any suggestions?
Hardware Setup:
Sony VAIO 1.8Ghz Pentium 4

Software:

MIDI rewire problems
Yes live as the rewire master, and Max as the slave. The reason I asked, is that my friend is able to send midi to live from Max in this arrangement on his Mac. We just confirmed this a little while ago. Doesn't work on my PC for some reason. So I guess I'll pose this question again. What gives? Why am I not able to choose Max as the Midi input in ableton?
Mac OS X has CoreMidi which allows you to set up applications as Midi sources and destinations. Windows does not have this capability built into it's Midi implementation. To workaround this you have to use a "Virtual Midi Cable" such as Midi Yoke.enomis wrote:Yes live as the rewire master, and Max as the slave.
