Ciao Federico,

it's really not so far away: manual, page 18
4.5 Audio Clips and Samples
An audio clip contains a reference to a sample (also known as a "sound file" or "audio file")
or a compressed sample (such as an MP3 file). The clip tells Live where on the computer’s
drives to find the sample, what part of the sample to play and how to play it.

You might have already understood I'm a newbe.

Resuming a Sample could be considered as a subcategory of a clip.
I mean if a clip is areference to sample we could therefore have MIDI clips and audio clips. So I could easily change the library/sample directory intoto library/clips/sample

Isn't it so??

a sample is just any audio material, mp3, wav, aiff, etc. You can load a sample into a clip of an audio track (but not on a midi track) or into sampler, simpler, impulse or drum racks, which are instruments that work with midi.

these are 2 different standards of so-called plug-ins; these are either virtual instruments, or effects (audio or midi) from other companies than ableton

see manual chapter 15 and esp. 15.2
