I am not sure about the xbox controller.

regarding the wiimote: Which software are you using with it?

I use mine with osculator. It allows to assign midi, mouse and keycommands to the wiimote buttons. So you can assign arrows, alt- and enter-button to some buttons on the wiimote and navigate through live and devices.

Theoretically you can do anything with the wiimote. But it's quite difficult to just use it as a mouse ...

I did a project that used the Wii remote to control visuals. DarwiinRemote was used to receive data (easy because Macs have bluetooth built in) and Processing for the visuals.

cheers for the arrows idea I'll give that a go. I have used the wii but find the whole moving it around a bit funny to use thats why I wanted to use the xbox controller the joystick would be good for some effects or even faders.

This apparently has
Full Nunchuk, Classic Controller, Guitar Hero Controller and Wii-Fit Balance Board support
but not for the new world tour controllers which I have :( so I cant test it.

Would be good in a DJ set i think to use the guitar as an effects controller.
