This is obviously not the case because they're bringing up the ability to hack the APC40 as a selling point of M4L.

Should keep the cost down and keep everyone happy.

I'm not sure if it's a punctuation problem or what but I'm not clear about what you're saying here. M4L can't control an external processes by itself but I'm certain that a device should be able have external control via ReWire ports on Live's tracks.

If what you're trying to say is "There's no evidence that there will be more than one version of M4L," then I agree. But M4L is only for Live, by definition.

if Midi is coming through live...
and no option for OSC... or other types of remote control..
this should be less than half of what max costs...

The ability to hack the APC40 suggests to me that they are ways to work with other control options. But that's speculation.

you're not making much sense 3dot. no option for OSC? there is the option, at no point in time is it optional. :?

I'm sure it will be able to be hacked, through the patch provided, Akai did mention 'software' though which the APC would be configurable.

That's what he is saying here. max for live users will not be able to createstuff that interfaces with stuff outside Live, but they will be able to use them.

As as the other poster said the apc may use that technology but it may be totally separate

If you're saying M4L users will be able to use custom interfaces that people make in Max 5 (proper), they will only be able to use them once they have been ported to M4L, which may be as simple as copying the patch into a M4L editing window depending on the patch.

Anybody will be able to create a custom interface with M4L though.

we can make stuff that interfaces outside of Live with Live 7, we could do it with Live 1 with midi ports.

max4Live users will be able to create stuff that interface with stuff outside of Live and use them. are either of you reading any information threads on Live 8? there's some serious mondayness up in here.

the APC sends static midi notes, we'll have to make 'glue logic' to map notes to whatever we want.

Maybe the APC will sit differently in this, as Akai have created a patch, but there is no way we will have full access to say a monome without paying full whack for Max/MSP, if we did nobody would buy Max/MSP

Yes sorry, wrote that in a rush leaving work, all communication with external sources will be through Live, External instruments plugin should come in handy here.

The Abes have bets on to see what madness we can come up with on our own so they're having too much fun to say anything yet

That's an incorrect assumption. One more time: M4L IS Max in every way except standalone operation, VST export, and standalone creation.

You talking to me? All I did was take out the internal quotes so they don't take up so much space. You aren't being taken out of context or anything.

No beef, the wink was directed at Abes, not you, as in all the info we're getting about Max for Live is from cycling etc.
