Shortcut keys
one of things I'm really likeing about ableton is the shortcut keys for everything and now easy they are to discover. Anyway I found that Ctl+Alt+P brings up the plugins for a track. but it dosn't always work. If I have VSTs or whatever on a track and I click on that track and press the Ctl+Alt+P sometimes it brings up the plugins but sometimes it does not. Is that normal or just a bug?

btw it works a bit strangely in Live. When you first add a plugin to a track it opens the plugin window (if you have this set to auto in the prefs).
Then if you press ctrl-alt-p it will hide the plugin and you see the little wrench icon in the device title bar go to a shade of white/grey.
If you press ctrl-alt-p again it will open again like it should.
However, if you had closed the plugin window using the mouse, either by clicking on the plugin's own close button or by clicking the wrench icon, you'll see the plugin window closing and the wrench icon going to a darker shade of grey. And now it's impossible to re-open te plugin using the key command!
I really don't know why and it's quite annoying. You have remember to always use only the key command for closing plugins or you won't be able to re-open them using the key command.
also why does it have to be ctrl-alt-p. Why not just P? it's not like it's reserved for anything else. All these ctrl-shift-alt-key combinations are doing my head in.

I have to say, this is one area where Reaper really excels. After having the ability to make almost any kind of keybinding or custom macro action imaginable, it's hard to go back to a closed (and often unintuitive) system like Ableton's.

+1 for more keyboard shortcuts, and for users to be able to define their own. Even better would be macro key commands
When you have used a tracker like Renoise you appreciate how much can be done with just a plain old QWERTY keyboard.
