Excatly how I feel. Good with drum sounds, noises, guitars, etc. I probably won't be putting vocals through it, but you never know.
I know.

vocoders are AWESOME. They are used all the time!! The last song I remember hearing one in is Human by The Killers.
They are used for everything from cheesy robotik to subtle chorus/thickening. I can't wait for this!!

But, yes, there is a Vocoder now, and it can do a lot of really nice things, way beyond the classical chords with vocals stuff....

i keep thinking, who will be the first one to make an automatic harmoniser using m4l and the vocoder?
and more importantly: can that be done?

harmonizer with max? yes, that can be done, and has been done as well. I do believe though that particularly harmonizing and real-time pitch stuff like that is best left for pedals - have you heard the TC stuff? Mindblowing.

i have indeed, and it sounds very very good at that.
speaking of max and max for live, anyone has any info about whether or not you can use externals with m4l?

yes, you can... which means fiddle~ will work too, and gizmo~ and pitch~ etc.
Java is also possible, Jitter as well. Full max, full msp, full Jitter... AND some live-specific objects.

Has anyone tested Reason's vocoder? I've always thought it could do everything you want to throw at it. But it could be outdated.
