how to make a snare roll in ableton live 7?
I am having trouble making a decent snare roll to transition choruses and versus on beats any help would be greatly appreciated thanx.

its all about the accents and velocity.
a good multi sampled snare works best..
i think it really helps to get a drum pad and some sticks and practice the rudiments.
its very addictive and you'll be able to translate from your head to machine better.

it would have multiple velocity layers.
it would have a sample of someone playing softer loaded into to a lower velocity layer and playing harder for a higher velocity... the more samples the more realistic it sounds and the more expressive you can be.
also having a left and right snare hit helps allot because they have a slight difference in sound pending on what hand you use.
you can trick it by using velocity (which will usually also control the volume) and setting up a second snare with a slight tweak to give it a different sound.. but not to much.. the difference is barley noticeable.
it also depends if your going for realism or not.

another approach is to use beat repeat or an arp.
