aehm not everyone hits the record button all the time. and further i said: nothing analog (which isn´t that true, cause i released some acoustic/folk music which is really analogish - but no synths and this is what the thread was about).
wow, another argument showing how much you know what you're talking about...I should give you a shovel to help you keep digging...please go on...

I vote xh9o for the crappiest signature on the forum. what's up with that? can anyone see that pic on their monitor? I can't see it on the three that I tried. no clue what the text in his signature means either.

I've been curious what it's all about...

its like with your penis: changing eyes doesn´t help, you have to get really close (on the computer: raise resolution by finding a bigger version of it somewhere - life´s a thing for travellers).

and signature means love, death and devotion. and its about a movie.

My first choice is non violence and humility, but when things get heavy and tolerance is pushed to the limit ......This is how we do it......Step on up, but bring a lunch, something nutritious with complex carbohydrates for sustainable energy!

I grew up in New Jersey......Used to get my hustle on in AC, Philly and NYC. I almost miss the occasional confrontation now that I live in Northern Cali amongst all the spiritually evolved, politically correct, environmentally progressive pussies. 8)

The Moog Lil Phatty seems cool but a tad limited.
Would it be a better purchase or a new Virus ?

What about Clavia Nord, Waldorf Q , Prophet 08(analog)

....................or i could run my sofsynths through hi end preamps and comps. Whats a better route ?

Thanks

Go with a Prophet 08, or buy a classic analog synth. I disagree about analogs. They sound different than softsynths, which can come close, but aren't the same in sound design. With soft synths there's all this work to try to give the oscillators movement on a sound design level, it's not even an issue with analogs.
Because of this, they aren't really that replicable on a computer, sure you can sit there and model a Moog as close as you can on a Virus, but in the end every minute change in the filter of the Moog, every new step is another process to model. Synths on computers are basically wavetable synths, they model an oscillator maybe too perfectly.

Anyway, I like the analog sound enough to own some, but I see little point in owning hardware VA's as the computer can handle those just fine, and ones like Absynth, Zebra, Sylnth, Zeta + etc. sound great!

absynth sounds great? no. but the rest of your post is agreed, especially about buying virtual analog hardware. thats big waste of money. even those hybrids from the eighties (digital osc with analog filters) sound worse than zebra etc.

for what it's worth I think nebulae makes good music.
It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Thats what i was thinking, isnt a virtual analog hardware synth basically a plug-in running on its own cpu and convertors ??? Whats the deal ??
