The facts: Not even worth pirating...
Live 7: 200 features
Live 8; 220 features
Live 7: 14 updates
20 to 30 bug fixes per update = 420 bug fixes!
Twice as many bugs as features!
50 employees
about 10 bugs per employee!
52 weeks a year * 50 employees = 2600 man weeks
thats 13 weeks per feature!
Abelton or abletonot complete a job?

In my life
Why do I smile
At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?

Have you ever worked in professional software development on a large complex project? There's a lot of work that goes into adding a feature. A guy doesn't just sit down and just say "Ok, I'll change the warping engine today" and bang it out in 4 hours.

I don't know how to reply to this adequately.
I worked at a company with software so large the source code filled a whole room. The software ran in the White House, in hospitals, in city and state government's offices, etc. 24x7. Truly redundant. It really worked.
Live isn't built to those standards, but it's still a big system.
It also has this problem of being built on a Mac and still having to run on a PC... but that's their choice.
I don't work in software anymore, I don't have the stamina.
I'm happy to buy Live and let them work out the problems. I'm worth it.

how does code fill a room? did you print every bit of code on paper? seems to me like you could fit most of it on a TBdrive from walmart for about $119arachnaut wrote:I don't know how to reply to this adequately.

It was as if someone shook up a 6 foot can of blood soda and suddenly popped the top.

Is this true? Was Live meant to run on Mac?
Does it run better on Mac?
What about like a BigMac?

This was in 1978. Do you know how much hard drives costs back then - no wait, the Winchester hard drive, let alone the PC was still quite a bit away... The Moog, just a few years old. CDs, what the hell are they?
You really don't know how spoiled we are now, electronics and software are the only things going down in price year after year.

I was born in 1998, I can't even remember what a mobile phone was. My grandad talked about them I think
