Waiting on the sidelines till the board has fewer complaints... Running the demo to see if this will make any dramatic changes for producing from version 4... As it stands now 4 suits my needs...

from what I can tell, none of the whiny little bitches that are stinking up the place were active beta testers.

my advice... get it right next year, too late now. wait a few weeks, it'll be straight. like I've posted before Live 7.01 was unusable for me.
Next time I'll remember to start my Ableton-related threads on this Ableton-related board with "Obama says". Maybe it won't irritate you as much

Another piece of advice:

Wait until late 2009, early 2010. Live will announce that you can upgrade to Live 9 for free if you buy Live 8 now.

We have a right to be whiney little bitches, most of us shell out good money to support the product.....Ive earned the right to have a moan if i want to....Plus, i never even Beta tested this one...Nope, i couldnt be arsed and i was busy with other shit....

We all know its gonna take a few updates for it to be super stable. Im well impressed with the product so far, and i will glady persevere or at worst just install v7 and go with the flow until the next update is ready.

Happy days

Not a PC thing... I never had a crash with the Beta 8 and no crashes with 8.01. This version runs better than 7 (opens faster, closes quicker and runs smoother).

There are so many new additions that made this a must buy for me.

I have heard there are quite a few issues with people running Vista instead of XP. Thankfully that's not me.

the yearly taxation that the update cycle follows blows, $10 a month or whatever to use the product. it's my main hobby, so it's money that doesn't go into a fancy car, or snowboarding or traveling or whatever other hobbies guys get into.

but let me get this straight...
"i was busy with other shit."
so all of a sudden you have time to use Live 8?

"or at worst just install v7"
you don't have v7 installed??? you're not even fucking using v7? you're pissing about the forum over software you don't have time to use and don't use anyway?!?!

just curious.

Happy Days. weather's great here, window's open, nice breeze, heavy with the smell of bacon the wife is cooking up.

a lot of people missed the point of the beta testing - that was the time to get your particular bug fixed. People seem to treat it like it's "working for free", but in fact it's "getting my problems fixed before I buy it"

you notice how most people who beta tested a bit now have the stable copies, and those that did not test have issues?
that's simply because we tested it, noticed whatever bug was in there that affected us, reported it and got it fixed months ago.

Beta testing is for your own benefit. It's a (nearly) totally selfish activity where you get to streamline the app for yourself. Or you could let Ableton just guess at solutions until they happen across one that works for you. That also works eventually.

What about those of use who beta tested extensively and still have issues? Can I moan?

Hmmm.... I'd have thought it was abletons job to provide a stable product for release and sale, not the customers.

Reading some of the responses here makes me think we are somehow obligated, as customers, to help them test.

If this were really the case you'd think the product would be a little cheaper?

But what do I know, I'm just on version 7, so what right do I have to even post here, as someone will no doubt point out.
