Sure, but he's as famous for being a self absorbed cunt as he is for being in bands. That, was my point.Tone Deft wrote:Lydon is a self absorbed cunt. I love the line in that interview "excuse me for talking while you were interrupting."Also, Johnny Lydon is a one of a kind, it's too bad it seems a lot of celebrities have tried to match his attitude. There really should only be one Rotten IMO. PIL were amazing though. I still love 'Metal Box/ 2nd Edition' and Flowers of Romance, groundbreaking stuff.
Still doesn't do anything to discredit 2nd Edition though, great record, one of my top five post punk records of all time. Metal Box version is better, serious heavy bass in that mix of it.
Scott nathaniel sez it best AFA this whole deal IMO. Though I have no opinion on BBT's music, not my cup of tea.
I'm sure it's frustrating to have to deal with your fame 24/7, but he signed up for the job. It's probably frustrating to have people insinuate that you're band is famous because of your fame outside music, but as I said before being gracious is a better approach IMO, though having a bad day with the constant celebrity quotes etc. is human.scott nathaniel wrote:I don't think Billy Bob is trying to use his celebrity, that's not the point. The point is that he can't avoid his celebrity, so it's a bit disingenuous to gloss it over. He shpuld be happy he's getting any airtime at all because I don't think he'd be getting much otherwise. That's not to belittle his music endeavors; they're just not that exceptional.Tone Deft wrote: MW - you're making assumptions that you have no clue about. your argument is based around him using celebrity to get contracts. there's no basis for that whatsoever. if the interview shows one thing it's that BBT would probably rather kill himself before pulling a move like that. drop the hate for a second and think about it.
