Edit Menu-> Audio Problems!

Post by glenclayton » Mon Jan 17, 2005 11:45 pm

I am using live 4.0.4 with a Firewire Audiophile (driver 5.10.0.5032), and whenever I click on the edit menu, there is a audible effect on the playback! Not fatal, but certainly annoying - anyone know of a fix for this?

Misc system info
Athlon 3400 XP
Firewire on Microstar Motherboard
GeForce FX5200 Graphics Card

If you turn off the XP Menu Fade In special effect (from the Screen->Properties) then this problem disappears!

Hope someone else will find this useful as well...

glen:
i am having an incredibly hard time with a newly purchased audiophile firewire and live 4.0.4. i have installed both the 5.10.0.5015 and the newest one that you mentioned (5.10.0.5032), neither have worked. so then i REINSTALLED WINDOWS, still no luck. the normal windows noises work fine out of the audiophile, which makes me suspicious, but other programs work as badly as Live (tried recycle and sound forge). i have a p4 with 256mb of ram, seems like that should be adequate, especially with a fresh windows install. currently, i am running the second oldest driver (5.10.0.5015 ) and am honestly afraid to install the newest one. help!!! the best way i can describe the problem is that the sound simply doesn't play. for example, if i double click on a sample (a bass drum WAV for example), nothing happens except the "previewing hihat 08.wav" or whatever is displayed perpetually in the bottom left hand corner of the screen. nothing can be heard, and the cursor cannot be seen to move over the sample (as one would see when Live is functioning properly). as for loading a Live set (.als), the set loads fine, but refuses to play. there is no "not responding" message at that time, indicating that the problem could be processor or software related. anyways, i am very frustrated and would love any help. again, i have a fresh windows xp install with the current service packs, other than that, the computer's basically clean. any suggestions would be appreciated. thanks!

Other Problems

Everything else seems fine, except there is a problem with the Audiophile headphone cue button and volume knob, which stops working after about 30 mins!

- anyone any clue on this?

I had the same problem with the latest drivers. I reverted back to the old 5.10.0.5015 drivers and haven't had any problems since.

I've only just got the box and only have the current driver and the one that came on the CD - do you know where I can download 5015 release?

Cheers

I just got mine a couple of months ago too. The 5.10.0.5015 drivers are the ones that I got on the CD that came with it. PM me your address and I can email you them if you like.

Update

Post by glenclayton » Fri Jan 21, 2005 1:03 pm

The 5015 drivers seem to have fixed the problem for me.

I contacted M-Audio support who are also looking into it, but weren't aware of the problem. It would help if anyone who has this problem contacts M-Audio (support form on www.m-audio.com) as the more people / information they have the more likely and quicker the fix.

I moved my audiophile from the motherboard firewire (on a MSI 6741 motherboard) to a firewire pci card and that seemed to fix the problem - I can now run with the 5032 drivers and the cue / volume knob don't stop working after a while....
