I wish the people telling the people who have an opinion to shut up, would in fact shut the fuck up themselves.

Everyone has the right to an opinion about a synth, no matter how ignorant it is.

Just shut the fuck up and stay in your own little bubble, and let us stay in ours. Godamnit...

I'd have to agree, although agreeing with you on this forum isjust telling the people who are telling the people who have an opinion to shut up to shut the fuck up themselves....

But honestly, you lot are whining like a bunch of high school drama queens right now. How many of you who are bashing this new synth have actually listened to it? I just downloaded it and the thing sounds fucking amazing. It might not be quite as pretty as FM7, but you know what? Record labels don't give a shit how pretty your VSTi was when they get your CD-R. While were at it, I own FM7 and use it a fair bit. It's a decent piece of kit, but far from perfect... for one, the low audible output is a huge drawback.

I'm not going to sit here and praise, bash, or compare Operator yet, because I want to first investigate the product more so I can make a sound decision.

And of fucking course ableton will let you get rid of the demo if you don't want the product.. jesus, you guys act like you've never seen how they handle product support.

Quit whining people.. it's your own fault you fell victim to the hype.

Maybe I'm complaining because I'm on a disability support pension.
Sold....

A) all my hardware
B) save up for 10 months
C)Got a laptop / Live / Reason / Adobe Audtion 1.5 + some VSt effects
+Controller then was broke then paid for the Live 4 update.
Now this is released and after conversion fees to OZ dollars etc....
I will cost me 1/4 of a months income for food/bills/rates/travel/fuel expenses etc etc etc ............

Look this would be fine if I worked ..........
I can't .
I'm in and out of hospital ( have chronic reccurent pancreatitis).
This just IS NOT affordable I'm afraid.
The last VST I bought was COFX KUBIK - admitedly it was on sale but it was a mere $54 US and outdoes a Waldorf Microwave Xtk in most respects................
My aren't the wings of butterflies beautiful and do they not make wonderful perturbations.....

Wow, look how angry your reply is. That's pretty ridiculous, I bet your either super defensive in person, or your very low key and just talk big on the internet. Regardless, I never said no one should have an opinion on a synth. If you tried taking the time to read what I wrote, instead of getting defensive and mad, you might see that. I pointed out how ridiculous it is that this synth was being ragged on and compared, while the same people were admitting to not even trying it out. Also I mentioned that there are a lot of drama queens on this board, because people were so upset over it.

I didn't write this post for the people who don't like the product, or the price. It was for the drama queens that were looking for something to bitch about. Read my post, I never mention that everyone should love the product. Hell, I went as far to say I hadn't made a sound decision on it myself.

I actually tried to be as subjective as possible...

Agreed! Maybe you should look in the mirror adrome? I think you might just find that you yourself, are the prettiest queen of them all!
Whining is making new post with subjects like "CRAPPY DAY" and "THE BIG LETDOWN" when there are already a couple post devoted to the item at hand.

Seriously, If there were post calling you guys a bunch of whiny defensive school girls, then I promise I would have left it alone.

But don't you see the hypocrisy in what your doing?? You made a thread so you could moan and bitch about people who moan and bitch!! Thats why I said shut the fuck up, not because I was being defensive, but because you offended me with you hypocritical post.

Go make some music.

OK we'll get right to it then. YOU just made a thread that is NOTHING MORE THAN HOT AIR. Get it? YOU are complaining about people making derivative ego centric posts, and doing so yourself. Post in the threads that bother you, only once mind you, to the ridiculousness of the thread, and you don't feed into the whole thing, but when you post a new thread as insulting in a broad stroke as you have, with as little posts as you have on this board, then you are trolling. You're looking for an argument, and feeding it, good job, Troll.

"Ahh.. I give up"

Congrats!!! You just made whiney Prom Queen Hall Of Fame with this dramatic ending to a pointless thread!!!

I'm sorry but to jump onto a forum you "just stumbled onto" and start a pointless, confrontational thread and THEN label folks who respond sharply as "defensive" is totally retarded.

Precisely. Expectations were high because ableton has released such great products in the past that we were disappointed when what was unveiled was just another propreitary instrument like Simpler and Impulse. I think it's a testament to how groundbreaking a release Live 4 was in that they drained their intellectual vein. I betcha Operator was something that was concieved at the same time as Simpler and Impulse but they just couldn't develop it in time for the Live 4 release.

Abletons, if you're listening, what you should have done is licensed the Melodyne technology and integrated that into Live. That's what I would have expected from a company that built it's reputation on audio innovation. Now that would have been another jaw dropper. The way that Live 4 was. Maybe for Live 5?
