Re: I am really angry about L8
I really love live8 but I also have some glitches. Bigger sets will crash after having my macbook in sleep mode, I had some strange things with consolidating clips where the groove would be applied or not applied in a way that was a bit errr unpredictable, but I need to doublecheck what really happened there.
The whole library conversion thing is very messy. thank god I have a back up of my old 7 library. thank god I save everything in projects and not in the library. latin percussion is a bit useless for it's boring slowness.
but then again I had some very inspiring moments with the groove thingy, with the multiband, I love playing with the looper ...
It's a bit of a challenge, but as I don't really rely on it professionally it doesn't hurt too much. But still I am undecided wether to use it for our next live shows or not. It's a pity that there is no backwards compability for clips created in 8. Once I start tweaking my big liveset in live8 it really would hurt to go back to 7.

Re: I am really angry about L8
I have had quite a list of bizarre, new bugs and no time to document them. Or, I lost patience documenting them since I rarely receive replies to my bug posts. Either way, I like 8's features a lot, I don't have any performances or related work lined up so I am hoping for a solid first update.

Hmmn workin fine for me.
Maybe I don't use it the same way.

I get these days too. It's really seldom when I'm angry or frustrated with computers, but Live has caused a few such situations (crashes when chancing buffer latency, crashes when running out of ram, crashes with third party plugins). It completely stops the creative flow, having to deal with this kind of problems. I understand...!SubFunk wrote: It messed up half of my productive time, so i got angry.
and of course i now workarounds and such, hey i work in the live audio environment, there are no excuses for something not working, you always need one up your sleeve... The show must go on... but knowing a workaround has nothing to do with what it should be: a version with minor not major issues.

but 8.0.4 is crashing while changing midi instrument presets fast (external and software, both.)
and don't tell me to do it slow, opposite it should be possible even much faster then i do it.
also loading latin percussion takes years, arrgghh..., i don't even believe how slow that is, i can cook dinner in the meantime.

let's hope 8.0.5 will be out before the end of the month.
Live 7 is happy and gentle with my cpu
Live 8 is hungry and makes my computer olding or on it's way... even if my laptop is a bit better... 8 remains hungry.
I quickly learned to manage audio clips by rendering hungry clips.
WHen I see the results of performance test for a lot of users, I'm not well when I check my own trials with the test
overall happy and confident
I'll only talk about live9 when 8 will be stable for the most possible users and when MAX4Live will be out and smoothly running!

Re: I am really angry about L8
I've had a pretty good experience so far as well. Just a couple of crashes, but live has returned what I was working on with no problems. I've been running a whole lot more vst's recently with all the deals, and have been pretty impressed. Only complaint, like others have said, is a bit cpu heavy at times. Could be a lot worse for me.
SubFunk. - when shit like this happens, I try to look on the bright side. At least you didn't loose your hard drive with all your work. Your work is still there and accessible. Take some solace in that fact!!!

So many times I see quotes along these lines 'your an idiot why did you delete version 7.xx go back to it, its stable'
Thats pretty shocking to be honest....most people will upgrade because they have an existing issue that the hope next version fixes only find it has worse bugs than the previous
Imagine you bought a new car and it had problems and the garage said here have your old car back and in a few months time they might fix your new one but we will keep your money thanks!!
Pains me to say this considering how much i love Lives' workflow but i think im done with it and will be moving to something else, im hoping this new presonus DAW lives up to its claims.
