really?
Yep, Windows all 32bit versions can address 3GB in a single application tops, 2GB really.
http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library ... S.85).aspx

OSX Leopard can address 4GB.

Oh, that's not even fair! :x Good Grief!

I don't care what they cost, which is a better value, which looks better, or which crashes more, using a Mac for music is ten times better than using a PC.

- Built in Coreaudio support for almost any samplerate or bitdepth (does WMP even play 24bit files yet?)
- Aggregate devices
- Pro quality plug-ins stock (AUplugs derived from Logic)
- Less fragmentation issues (though OSX does still fragment files)
- Easy partitioning built in, so you can put critical audio files at the outside of the drive platter for greater throughput if needed.
- No viruses. It's possible yes, but there aren't any yet that people need to worry about. I can (theorectically) have Live open and the nastiest porn websites in the world, and never fear about a virus. Not the smartest thing to do of course, but it's one less thing to worry about.
To me, the first three seem meaningless. Tit fer tat really, but the next two...when will those morons at Mac start selling OS X to us poor commoners? I'll tell you what, the nerve of the Mac aristocracy waving their high flying haughty taughty pooter goods in our poor mug's direction. <---@DrXparaMental

Yeah! And when is Ferrari going to start putting engines in my Kia? The nerve of some companies expecting me to shell out money for a whole car just so I can use their engine!

Live is too buggy to use, who cares what kind of computer you crash it on?
In my life
Why do I smile
At people who I'd much rather kick in the eye?

Oh cool,

obviously OS X has won best OS for music.

Good news for the "new to school" crowd.

The answer is simple.
What works for you is the best.

BUT.
The marketing - war - shit has to stop.
Especially from apple side.
We are not victims.

Personally i prefer PC
Im not afraid of viruses/defragmentation/RAM support or any issues quoted from windows 98 years.

It is 2009.
Even a 13 years old know how to proper build a computer from "0" (software and hardware)

I paid 800 euros for a quad core/8 GB ram computer and pre-ordered win7 (RC installed)
I have 3 years support for all the parts without to pay extra
If my PSU die after 4-5 years i can go to the supermarket of my neighborhood and buy a top quality PSU for 60 euros or a very cheap for 10 euros and ill be back to normal in 20 minutes maximum. (the same for any other part).

-Also what is a virus - a malware etc??? (My internet is on 24/7 for years now)
-What is a blue screen - win crash etc? i think this is a quote from win-millennium
-Why my registry and my hard drive is full of junk? Im using ~150 programs all portable and free (i have no even a single registry record except live and vst's)
-Also the PC's are evil because are making to much noise! 15-20 days ago an old mac junkie good friend visit my studio and ask me to open the computer to make some music. guess what.
-I dont have any free vst given by microsoft but i bet i can find at least 5 free alternative vst's (.dll only) that are way better than any free AU. (ok it may take me 5 minutes)
-Defrag? I bet windows can defrag any drive. Manually or scheduled from 1995

lol!!

the but is only for
The marketing - war - shit has to stop

all the others is my opinion about pc's
and an answer for the bad words coming from mac side ;0

Both mac and pc's have their +/- anyway
Both can make music
Both can perform live
etc. etc.

We just have to be fair, you know what i mean

yo!, that's entertainment!

keep it coming peeps

@ Tarekith, coming from logic years ago... i always underestimated and actually ignored the in the OSX built in Plugs... as of late... OMG, some of them are top notch stuff, the Matrix reverb for instance... a similar quality would cost quite a few bucks on windows.

also as mentioned core audio and mid is a bliss! and time machine a holy keeper of your work...

and don't i remember a thread from the last few days with long file names or special characters under windows?

i love this thread.

but please hang on i run out of popcorn and soda... will be back in a minute...
